A Year In Jewels: Jewellery To Wear In 2019
When it comes to ear bling aka Earrings, there are tons of styles and colours to pick from so it can be difficult to know where to start. As always, jewellery is a particularly popular fashion item, but earrings are now arguably becoming the new handbags of the fashion world. This year will be all about bold, decorative and extravagant looking earrings so with that in mind here’s a guide on the earrings you should be wearing this year and why.
Chandelier EarringsÂ
The name of these earrings originally come from their similarity to multi-tiered light fittings. Chandelier earrings originated in Turkey, the Middle East, and India spreading to the West in the 18th century. Aesthetically they are large, dazzling and usually heavily embellished with a pattern.
Top Tip: Chandelier Earrings look great when worn with an evening outfit such as a classic and elegant black dress and a Hollywood red lipstick.

Ear Climber EarringsÂ
As the name suggests, these earrings are designed to climb up the ear, allowing for a full-lobe adornment without the need for multiple piercings.
Top Tip: Ear climber earrings are one of the more edgier look and styles of earrings, so why not team them up with a leather biker jacket or a fitted black blazer to complete this super chic, funky look.

Ear Jackets EarringsÂ
This style of earing was developed by Parisian jeweller Yvonne Leon and adopted by just about everyone, ear jackets – also known as lobe earrings – have been a staple of fashionable earring collections for a few years. Consisting of a stud front and an adornment which fastens to the back and seems to float just underneath the earlobe, they range from genteel curves of diamonds or pearls to more edgy and quirky designs.
Top tip: These particular styles of earrings are halfway between classic and quirky and you’d be crazy not to show them off. Try sweeping your hair behind your ears to show off your ear bling and style to everyone.

Pendant EarringsÂ
From the French pendre meaning “to hang”, they’re also known as drop earrings and consist of one or several components hanging from the stud. More slender than Chandeliers, they can be long or short, pared back or elaborate, and lend an elegant touch to any look.
Top Tip: These style of earrings scream old school Hollywood glamour. Because of this, wearing a beautiful gown or an elegant dress with them would make for a perfect fit. Keep your face makeup simple and let these bold gorgeous earrings stand out for you.

Girandole EarringsÂ
A close cousin of the Chandelier and similarly popular in the 18th century, Girandole earrings are distinguished by three, sometimes five pear-shaped elements suspended in a V formation from a central motif.
Top Tip: These earrings are super elaborative and decorative and look best worn with something simple so that your earrings are the main focus of attention.

Hoop Earrings
Needing no introduction, Hoop earrings have a long history. Varying in size, they are the oversized styles of hoops and the minuscule “huggy” hoops as well as all of the other varying sizes in between.
Top Tip: Hoop earrings look great when worn with anything and everything. Hoops looks best though when your hair is tied up high in a messy-looking bun to give the casual chic, urban feel.

Single Earrings
Single earrings are perhaps a bit unconventional compared to the traditional two earrings normally worn. They wend up and round the ear with gravity-defying ease, drawing attention to often-overlooked areas.
Top Tip: Like with Hoops, single earrings look best with your hair up so that you can showcase the entirety of your single earring design and all of its beauty.
