I’ve lived in Manchester for nearly four years now and I can honestly say it’s where I call my home! From the highly enthusiastic spirit of the Mancunians to the varying cultures all intertwining together through its bustling streets; you’re guaranteed an amazing time when in Manchester. However Manchester is not just good for day trips, but a night out in good old Manchester is guaranteed to be filled with laughs, memories and – a little bit of – drama (but who doesn’t love a bit of drama!)
If you’ve never experienced a night out in Manchester then I’m here for you! Carry on reading as I take you on a night out in Manchester!
I jump out the shower and dance around my room to Disclosures first album (wasn’t that such a good album though? It’s THE album to get you pumped for a night out!) As I sing into my hairbrush I can’t help but think I’m a worldwide pop star, performing to a sold out crowd at the o2 Arena.
My world soon comes crashing down and instead of the cheering and 1000s of faces I had just imagined, instead I see a sad 21 year old guy, singing to himself in the mirror. I receive a text from my friends! Oh shit! They’re 45 minutes away! Right time so get ready!
Now for me I am one that absolutely loves prinks! (pre-drinks) I mean, prinks for me are the highlight of a night. It’s a time where you and your friends can just sit around slowly sipping on your spirits. You can play drinking games, gossip about those you know and it’s THE time for taking pictures.
Located just off Oxford Road, Junkyard Golf is a highly popular attraction in Manchester. Spread over three floors and three courses, as soon as you set foot into the attraction you are transcended to a world of bright lights and trippy acid colours. You can putt your way through all sorts of bizarre holes on the 9-hole courses ranging from scrapyard slides, circus freaks, jungle bathtubs and UV garage.
Ah, ok it’s 11pm now and I’m getting ready to actually go out now and dance the night away. Junkyard Golf was fab! A definite recommendation to everyone! Unfortunately / fortunately for me that Jack Daniels I had at prinks and those cocktails I ordered at Junkyard Gold may have gone to my head. Nonetheless I am determined to get into the club and will do the greatest sober performance of my life. My friend orders us all an Uber and I practise my lines ready for the bouncer. We’re off to Birdcage, a renowned venue in the heart of Manchester City Centre.
Yay I got in. Phew, ok now let’s get drink and have a boogie!
I’ve been waiting nearly half hour for a drink. Honestly what has a guy got to do to get a drink round here?
Oh it’s fine I’ve just been served. Double vodka and coke for me barman!
Oh god I was just sick! It’s fine though! Let me have a mint and a cigarette and I’ll be good!
Don’t you just love the people that work in the bathroom who shower you with sweets and squirts of very expensive aftershave. I mean i just had two squirts of Chanel and a lollipop all for a couple of quid! …. I think… shit, I’ll have to check.
What’s so great about Birdcage is that its been home to some of the most entertaining parties and nights since it opened in 2006. Every Saturday the club offers a cabaret experience which is not to be missed! The Vegas style shows include flamboyant drag artists, sexy male dancers and elegant showgirls. Every half hour, the fast paced shows keep the night both entertaining and upbeat bringing the best of 80s, 90s, 00s and now music. There’s literally something for everyone!
Currently having a proper move and groove on this lit up dancefloor. Britney Spears is blasting through the speakers and a sense of euphoria sparks throughout my body (it was either that or a shot of alcohol)
Ok my feet are starting to hurt now and I guess the alcohol is wearing off. Oh god. Just want food and bed now!
And we’re leaving. Woop! Finally! I think the past half hour was the longest half hour of my life.
Currently sprawled in an uber with my friends clutching my garlic bread ready to devour at home!
And I’m home sweet home! What a fantastic night!
