10 Things To Do In London This Summer

With the warmer weather of summer, now’s the time to take advantage of sunny skies and cool breezes. Whether you decide to take a solo leisurely stroll around Hyde Park or let your adventurous side run free while white water rafting, here 10 awesome things to do in London this summer!

1. Visit a museum.

London is overflowing with museums so there must be at least one you will be interested in! Be that art, history, science or war, with free entry into most museums, you don’t need to think twice about planning a visit!

 

2. Think outside the transport box.

Got a date on a sunny day? Hire a boat or pedalo at Hyde Park or Regent’s Park and enjoy a Central London moment of relaxation and laughter!

 

3. Grab some lunch at Borough Market.

What could be a more authentic way to enjoy your lunch or a quick afternoon snack than at one of London’s oldest and busiest markets known for its fantastic street food!

 

4. Watch a play at the Shakespeare’s Globe!

The iconic Shakespeare’s Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, and also has the only thatched roof in the city! Open daily, and with several plays showing throughout the summer season, there is no excuse but to walketh ‘long and gaze a play h’re, especially with Yard Tickets at just £5!!!

 

5. Try an exciting new sport at Lee Valley White Water Centre!

Not hard to get to from Central London, you can be sure to enjoy a day out at Lee Valley, a 2012 Olympic venue! Open to the public, there are loads of fun activities you can dive into, and who knows, maybe you’ll find a new hobby to keep up with!

 

6. Explore the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Situated in Richmond upon Thames, southwest London, a day in Kew is a serene and impressive stroll within an enclosed oasis. It’s hard to believe you’re still in the centre of the hustle and bustle of the city. Don’t forget to climb to the top of the Pagoda, see the views from the Treetop Walkway, and get your toes stuck into the Barefoot Walk!

 

7. See London on two wheels.

Hiring a bike is only £2 with TfL, so an evening ride around Green Park or gliding past the main tourist attractions has never been easier!

8. Have a cup of tea in the Queen’s back garden!

Yes, you heard that right! During the summer, while the Queen is on holiday and the Palace is not being used in its official capacity, visitors can enjoy a tour of nineteen magnificent State Rooms within Buckingham Palace! So for all you patriotic, royal enthusiasts, what could be a better way to finish a day touring around the Queen’s Gallery and the Royal Mews than a guided tour around the Palace itself, followed by scones and a cup of English breakfast tea looking out onto the Palace gardens?

A prom can be much more than a semi-formal gathering of teenagers! The Proms is an eight-week season of daily orchestral music and it is definitely something you don’t want to miss out on! With day Promming tickets available for only £6, attending a Prom would be a perfect, affordable, classy night out, or even a date, where you will be able to experience a culture you may have not been exposed to before. And if you haven’t been to the Royal Albert Hall before, trust me, it is magnificent!
