12 TV Shows To Binge-Watch Over Summer

Summer was basically meant for binge-watching TV shows and relaxing after work. I know that I’m always on the hunt for new shows to watch, so here’s 12 great ones for your viewing pleasure.

1. Brooklyn 99

This is easily one of the funniest TV shows I have ever watched. The show revolves around Brooklyn’s 99 precinct and all the chaos and comedy that follows detective Jake Peralta and the rest of the team. If you want non-stop laughter and guaranteed love at first sight with a show, this is definitely the one for you.

2. American Horror Story

This is a drastically different type of show than the first one, however it is still just as much of a must-watch. Every season has its own unique story line and characters that are just as intriguing. Every season will have you hooked in a different way, and not to mention all of the fantastic actors that this show has (Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and so many more).

3. Black Mirror

Ok, maybe black mirror is a little too heavy to binge-watch all at once. This dark take on technology and its influence on society will take your breath away. Every episode is more shocking than the last, and it’ll definitely get you thinking.

4. Breaking Bad

If you haven’t watched this show yet, I’m sorry for you. This is one of the most enthralling TV shows I’ve ever watched and is a nail-biter right down to the last episode. The adventures of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman as they cook and sell meth makes for quite a funny (and dangerous) journey.

5. Narcos

This is one of my personal favourites because of how interesting the re-telling (and dramatized) story of Pablo Escobar is. Following the rise of the cocaine trade in Colombia and all of its ups and downs, this is one of few TV shows that definitely does not have a dull moment.

6. Prison Break

The show follows Michael Scofield in his desperate attempt to free his wrongly incarcerated brother. His planning is immaculate and the show is nothing if not thrilling and suspenseful. This is one of those TV shows where I just couldn’t wait to watch the next episode and ended up binge-watching the majority of some seasons in one day, that’s how good it is.

7. The 100

Ever wondered what life would be like if nuclear war destroyed Earth? This show runs through the events that follow after this occurs and what life is like for the survivors. When 100 people are chosen to re-inhabit earth, chaos ensues and it is a real nail-biter.

8. Game of Thrones

While I’ve never watched it myself, it has quickly become one of those cult-classic TV shows that everyone seems to be talking about. It is based off a series of fantasy novels and follows the story of noble families fighting for control of the lands of Westeros. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, so while it is long, I’m sure it’s worth the time.

9. The Office (US Version)

Honestly, this is one of those TV shows that seems to get funnier every time I watch it. Following the antics of a slew of hilarious characters at a paper company, this show is absolutely ridiculous in all of the best ways. Michael Scott is the epitome of a clueless boss and will have you in hysterics at all of his comments and idiotic stunts throughout the series.

10. Stranger Things

When this show first came out, everyone I knew was talking about it. Following the dark adventures of a group of interestingly connected young people, this is one of the best TV shows that Netflix has put out by far. Filled with suspense and mystery while still cracking some witty jokes, you’ll be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next season (like the rest of us) before you know it.

11. Friday Night Lights

I genuinely think that this is one of the only TV shows that I have ever cried at. The gut-wrenching events of this show will leave you reeling as you follow the lives of the loveable (and not-so-loveable) people of Dillon. You’ll be hooked on this show and its insane storylines after just an episode and each season will reel you in more and more.

12. Shameless (US Version)

The US adaptation of the British show bearing the same name details the events of a troubled family and all of their baggage. The show is heart-breaking and you’ll find yourself laughing and crying along with the Gallagher family as if they’re old friends before you know it. This show is definitely a fan-favourite and when you watch it you’ll see why.
