Try These Blush Colors For Every Skin Tone

Blush is essential for most of our beauty routines. I mean come on, who doesn’t love that final sweep of color along our cheekbones? The perfect pop of color, every time. Still, the question surrounding what shade is right for you is definetly worth confirming before you spend $30 on an impulse buy at Ulta. Not to mention, it isn’t always the most fun when you have a bright red color running down your cheeks. Not to say this would happen, but we’re planning for the worst-case scenario!  This article will give you some insight into what shades to look for! Nearly every brand will have a shade for you, even if it just takes some hunting. Luckily, you have come to the right place. Let’s get started on everything you need to know for blush colors and shades!

1. Fair Skin…

If your skin is on the fair side, the best colors to look for are peach, light coral, and light pink tones. Pink can be a hard color to navigate, but the best shades are in the light, soft pink category. A couple of brands I recommend are NARS, Neutrogena, and Tarte, but you can also check out your local drug store. I subscribe to an Ipsy bag, so I receive a blush probably every other month. It is fun to try other brands that you may not normally expand to. Do some trial and error, that is the only way to find your perfect shade! My skin is really tricky when it comes to shades. I do think I have fair skin, but my body is olive toned. I guess my Irish background only got me with the fair face. With regards to picking a blush, I feel your pain ladies! My skin is super pale and I never know which category to pick from. Of course, a skin tone is a pretty open category, but play it safe with the light pinks and light corals, and you should be golden. I feel that the majority of girls and women (even if they don’t realize it), have pale skin.

2. Olive Skin Tone

There may be some confusion with who has what skin tone. Truly there is no right answer, but if you have a ballpark idea, that will do it! In terms of blush colors, there are so many to choose from that it can make finding the right shade difficult. An orange-gold combination or a bright pink color is best for this skin tone. I, personally, have olive skin but my face is paler. Lucky me! I usually choose something bright when it comes to my skin tone and finding the perfect blush.

Coral is a great go-to shade, especially if you aren’t sure. Coral has a huge variety, there are so many different colors within the shade of coral! The perfect combination of pink and orange, your cheeks have never met a better match! You would be surprised at how many different shades, categories, and colors there are when it comes to choosing a blush. Who knew? This coral color will bring out the rest of your amazing features! So, work it!

3. Medium/ Tan Skin Tone

Nobody wants to see that there could have been a better blush color instead of the one that had been chosen. When it comes to medium-toned skin, anything in the pink/ berry family will look amazing. Make a statement with a bright pink or even a darker/purple shade, and my favorites are from the brand’s Origins, Estee Lauder, NYX, and Maybelline! Choosing the right shade of blush can really make a huge difference in your makeup and skincare routine. It does take practice but in the classic tutorials of makeup, we are supposed to apply blush to the apples of our cheeks! Let the rest of your makeup do the talking!

Also, spending time out in the sun (even if it is for a short time), can, of course, alter your skin tone, so keep that in mind if you are heading into the summer months or if you live somewhere warm. My recent visit to Florida left me a completely different shade! There are so many great products out there and blush can really make or break your makeup look. I don’t mean that literally, but of course, it matters! Have a little fun with this process!

4. Deep/ Dark Skin Tone

Many of us may forget, but cream blushes are a real game-changer. I even used one a couple of years back that was a blush/ highlighter combination, and it can really make a difference! If you have a deep or darker complexion, the best blush for you is darker pinks/ deep corals. I bright blush shade will perfectly highlight all of your best features! Check out your local drug store for all of your favorites, or head down to your local mall to spoil yourself on that purchase! Ask an employee if you do head to the mall, and they will point you in the right direction on what to look for! Most importantly, rock that blush girl! Some of the best colors may be located at a drugstore, and to be honest, behind upscale marketing is most likely the same or similar product. Soon, you will be turning heads!

Everybody has different skin tones, which is why it can be hard to find the right shade for blush, or really any specific makeup. Making a purchase at the drug store or department store can sometimes appear to be like finding a needle in a haystack. Not to panic! Every bit of advice can help when you are talking about makeup, and especially if you are just starting to use makeup.
