Bachelorette parties are meant to celebrate the bride to be, in a fun and exciting way. When planning the party, remember she should be the main focus. No on wants a bridesmaidzilla! Social distancing might have put a damper on your plans, but luckily Zoom is here for you. Use these tips to give the bride to be a night she won’t forget!
You’ve known your best friend since kindergarten. But, do you know her friends from college or coworkers? If the answer is no, please introduce everyone to each other! While social distancing keeps us at home, it doesn’t have to keep us from being friendly. Odds are some people at this virtual party have never met before tonight. If you are worried about forgetting names, Zoom features a name box under each person’s picture. If you want to get creative, they also let you customize each person’s name as well!
If you weren’t on a budget before, there is a very high chance that you are now. Even with a virtual bachelorette party, it is important to keep prices in mind. Suggest a limit on how much to spend on the bride’s gift or plan activities that are cost friendly. Look for free apps whenever possible when playing games and take advantage of Zoom free! All of the bride’s friends and family will want to contribute to her special day, but they shouldn’t have to worry about breaking the bank to do so!
There has been a slew of new restaurants and bars offering free delivery or carry out since social distancing has started. The good news is that you can take advantage of this for your virtual bachelorette party. Before the Zoom call starts, arrange it with a family member or friend to have the bride’s to be favorite food delivered to her! The order should arrive during the call so she’ll never expect it and will be a great addition to the party. If the bride is taken care of, feel free to treat yourself to a little something too!
Every bride should have all eyes on her, even during her bachelorette party. A great way to help the future bride stand out during the call, is to decorate the room where the Zoom call is being held. Use a roommate or SO to help you decorate the space accordingly. Remember on the call, you usually only see what’s on the screen from their waist up, unless they decide to sit further back for a full view. If that wasn’t enough, Zoom gives you the option to use a virtual reality background! If you planned on doing a destination bachelorette party, this is the next best thing!
Just like you would decide on a theme for the actual bachelorette party, have family and friends do so on the Zoom call as well! You can have the bride wear white and everyone else dress in black. Or make it a little more fun and flirty with everyone wearing their favorite pajamas. Whatever you decide on, try to encourage everyone to participate. The more the merrier when it comes to themes! Bonus: just think about how fun the photos will come out. Zoom gives you the option to take photos or even record the call!
A bachelorette party is a celebration, so grab the champagne and get ready to toast the bride to be! Throughout the night, keep the drinks flowing. Favorite soft drinks or a non-alcoholic beverages can always be substituted. Once everyone has relaxed, you can start the drinking games! There are plenty of games or apps out there to help get you started. Zoom allows you to use the shared screen feature so everyone can participate together. Keep in mind your audience, when it comes to how personal or X-rated the games will get. No one wants to blush in front of their grandma!
Almost everyone gets excited when they receive something in the mail. Especially, when the gifts are for your bachelorette party! Instead of giving your gifts in person, you can send your gifts to the future bride ahead of time. Drop them off prettily wrapped or in a cute bag (for those of you who can’t wrap at all!). If they are coming from out of state or an online vendor, use a delivery service. You can make it more interesting by having the bride guess who sent each gift as she unwraps them! By waiting to open the gifts on the Zoom call, family and friends can see the priceless reactions from the bride.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. However, not everyone might want to say that much! When documenting activities during the bachelorette party, make sure there is an understanding about what is recorded and how it will be shared. Everyone may be okay with pictures being taken, but sharing them on social media might be different. Take into account how it may effect personal and professional lives. If you keep this is mind, there is no doubt you’ll record some lasting memories to look back on.
Discuss with the bride how she wants to thank those who have attended her virtual bachelorette party. She might consider sending out a small thank you gift. You can accomplish this by sending the gifts out in advance by mail, before the scheduled Zoom call. Instruct them not to open the packages until the night of the party. Depending on when you want to gift these to family and friends, have them all open it at the same time. Watch for their delight as they open their gifts!
Last but not least, Zoom is subscription based! They do have a free version, but there are some limitations. The free version allows participants to be on a call for 40 minutes at a time. After the times up, you can always start another call! If this doesn’t sound appealing, you can always upgrade your subscription so that the fun doesn’t have to stop or be interrupted. Make sure you keep a charger nearby as using the video option on your laptop or smartphone can drain the battery quickly.
