20 Trendy Coachella Hairstyles That You’ll See At This Year’s Festival

Coachella hairstyles are a big part of the festival. Coachella is one of the biggest music festivals of the year-any body who’s anybody is either there or performing. People want to look their best when they go to Coachella and usually plan their outfits months in advance but what about the hair? Coachella is an excuse to wear whatever you want but to also have a funky and fresh hairstyle. If you’re not sure what to do with your hair this year, try one of these 20 hairstyles and your Coachella outfit will be complete.

1. Braided Updo

For this hairstyle, you will first braid all of your hair into really small braids then you can either put your hair in a bun or ponytail depending on the look you’re going for. If you want to frame your face more, you can leave two braids hanging out of your updo from your part line and your hairline, hanging down both sides of your face.

2. Beach Waves and Braids

For this look, you will first need to achieve that beach wave look. There are many ways to achieve this look- you can leave your wet hair in 4-6 mini buns overnight to get that curl, use a straightener or curling iron to get loose messy curls or use a moose or curling spray. Once you’ve achieved the beach wave you can make 2-4 small braids spaced out in your hair and you’ll be ready to go!

3. Headbands

Headbands are great when you’re having a lazy hair day. You can wear one with a messy bun, a ponytail or down depending on how much effort you want to make. For Coachella, you can wear a headband with a messy ponytail or bun and you’ll be ready to go.

4. Scrunchies

Yes to some’s excitement and some people’s dismay, scrunchies are back. Tie scrunchies are really big right now and one’s with bright colors and patterns. You can wear your hair in a messy high ponytail or bun and slap a scrunchy on an be looking the part for Coachella.

5. Bright Hair

If you want to go the extra mile and actually get your hair done for Coachella then try dying it a fun color. You don’t even have to go permeant, you can just dye it for the occasion. To follow this trend try dying your hair a fun color like blue or pink and you’ll be the center of attention at Coachella!

6. Half-Up Buns

To achieve this look, you can wear your hair curly or straight and do your hair like you’re wearing it in a half-pony but twits the hair that you’re wearing up into a bun. This look is best with a ballerina bun which can be achieved by twisting the hair into a coil then wrapping it around itself into a bun.

7. Curled Ponytails

For this look, make a ponytail mid-way down your head, tie with a hair tie and then curl the ends. After curling the ends, brush the curls out so they are more rounded than curls. This is the pony reinvented and you’ll be looking so trendy at Coachella!

8. Two Messy High Buns

The two-bun look has been back in but instead of two sleek, refined buns, this look requires the buns to be as messy as possible. Start with dry, unstyled hair, divide your hair in half and make a loose twisted bun leaving the ends (about 2 inches) sticking out of the bun. Do this to the other side and the look will be complete.

9. Bangs

Bangs, yes bangs are back. Baby front bangs are really in right now but bangs are a commitment and if you’re not ready for that,  try a side bang. This trend looks nice with a half-up ponytail or a low ponytail -all up to you.

10. Slicked Back Ponytail

For this look apply hair gel to wet hair, running your fingers through your roots and down your head, then secure your hair in a low or mid-height pony. You’ll be looking so sleek and refined at Coachella with this hair.

11. Bead Head Hair

This hairstyle can be achieved by letting your hair air-dry and just straightening parts of it or by letting it dry in small buns then brushing through it. This hairstyle will make you look so chill and ready for a day outside at Coachella.

12. Beach Hair

You can achieve this look by applying beach waves or curling hairspray to wet or dry hair. Your hair will never have looked more effortless and put together at the same time.

13. Reverse French Braid

Start at the top of the neck and make a reverse French braid until you get to the top of the head, then make a high bun or ponytail. This look will definitely make you stand out next to all the standard ponytails and buns.

This look can be achieved by teasing the hair at the crown of the head and applying hairspray. This look looks especially great with a hair accessory like a headband or hair clip. You’ll be music festival ready with this hairstyle. This is one of the most unique Coachella hairstyles you can try!

15. Two Low Buns

To achieve this look, you should divide your hair in half and secure the two halves with a hair tie at the base of your head. Wrap each side into two ballerina-style buns and secure the buns with a hair tie. You will look like a princess Leia flower child and will be ready to take on Coachella.

16. French Cross-Braid

To achieve this look, grab a section of your hair from the top of one side of your head and make a Fresh braid pulling from the other side of your head until the braid wraps around and then secure it with bobby pins or a hair tie. Pul out loops on the braid to give the braid a fuller look and either wear the rest of your hair curly or straight.

17. Crimped Hair

Crimped hair is back and better than ever. You can wear your hair parted down the side, down the middle or pinned back on the sides. To achieve crimped hair, you can do is the old fashioned way by braiding wet hair and setting it dry or by using a curling or straightening iron, either way, make sure to use hair spray when done as crimped hair is tricky to make it last for a long time.

18. Fringe Bangs

Bangs, to iterate, are back and so are fringe bangs. A little wispier and a little more effortless than the standard bang, fringe bangs look great with almost any hairstyle. Make sure to get them cut by a professional though because bangs can be tricky. Just straighten them and you’re ready to go. This is definitely one of the cutest Coachella hairstyles.

19. Side Part

An extreme side part looks great with the hair down, framing the face, or in a low ponytail or bun. You can make the look more concert appropriate by styling the hair in a braid or with beach waves.

20. Messy Updo

Messy buns have been a thing and they will still be a thing by the time Coachella comes around. If you think a messy bun is not cutting it for Coachella you can do a messy ponytail or braid as long as it looks effortless and like you slept in it. This is one of our favorite Coachella hairstyles.
