10 Travel Essentials You Don’t Want To Forget

Traveling can be a lot to handle, especially if you are going with a big group or even your family. When you shut your house door and board the airplane, you always wonder…did I forget something? If you do not travel very often, you can also wonder what are the essential travel items I need for this trip? Well, here are 10 travel essentials you will not want to forget during your next getaway. They are small enough to fit on any carry on for easy access during flights or even road trips! Make sure you do not forget your important items like Passport, photo ID too, and even your tickets!

#1 Portable Power Source

Let’s be real, we depend on our phones more than anything else. From waiting to board, to ordering an Uber at your destination, you need your cellphone. You can now get your airline tickets on your phone too! So making sure your phone has 100% battery is the key to traveling and honestly, a necessity in 2020. Along with bringing your charging cord, get a portable charger as well. You will never have to stress about finding a plug or if the gate area has an open charging station. Also, if you are heading out on a road trip, this is a great thing to have along with you! It is small enough to fit inside a backpack or purse!

#2 Headphones

Obviously, if you are traveling, even alone then you need headphones. You can listen or watch anything without disturbing the people next to you. Also, I have found that using headphones when I am traveling makes time go by so quickly. If you have a pair of Airpods, they are easy to connect and use wherever you are. If you get nervous flying or even riding in the car, listening to your favorite music or watching your favorite movie will distract you!

Shop it:

#3 Disinfecting Wipes

Sitting in a space where many people have been before you can cause a build-up of germs. With viruses and other things floating around in the air, it is smart to bring disinfecting wipes to defend against germs. Especially when it comes to eating! You can wipe down your armrests and tray tables. Trust me, the people next to you will for sure ask you for one!

#4 Moisturizing Products

Since the air on airplanes is recycled air, it can be a very dry environment for your skin. It is incredibly important to moisturize in order to keep your skin hydrated. Hand cream or facial cream is the best to have with you and easily accessible, so you can just reach into your carry on and grab your lotion!

Shop it:

#5 Chapstick

Chapstick is definitely one of the first items I put into my carry on. I hate the uncomfortable feeling of having dry and cracked lips. Whether you are traveling on an airplane, driving through the mountains, or even laying on the beach, all of these can affect your lips. It is tiny and will last for your whole trip, so why not pack it in your carry on or purse? You can also get a lip mask that will go the extra mile to keep your lips hydrated!

Shop it:

#6 Hand Sanitizer

When you travel, you are constantly touching door handles, bathroom locks, seats, and so many other things that could potentially make you sick. However, you cannot wash your hands all the time, posing a problem. So, if you have hand sanitizer in your travel essentials, you will be able to clean your hands before eating or after touching random stuff. If you are going to be shaking hands or meeting new people, this is definitely a must!

#7 A Book

Obviously, the plane’s wifi is horrid and most of the time it just does not work properly. Or even if you are road tripping through a dead service zone, it can be difficult to keep yourself busy. A good thing to throw in your bag is a book. It will waste so much time and will keep you distracted. It is also a fun thing to bring on vacation with you if you are just laying on the beach!

#8 Makeup/Facial Wipes

Face wipes are very important, just like the moisturizing cream! When the air is super dry it instantly takes a toll on your skin. If you bring facial wipes along with you, it is easy to keep your skin hydrated and you will not feel gross stepping off the plane. It will cleanse your skin of germs as well! If you do not know this already, you should definitely stay away from doing your makeup before a flight. It can be very bad for your skin and cause breakouts! So if you need your makeup to be done, pack it in your carry on and do it once you arrive!

#9 Slides/Slippers

When traveling, you want to be as comfortable as possible. Wearing sneakers or clunky shoes can be super uncomfortable when you are traveling. I prefer wearing slides or slippers to keep me comfortable and feeling stylish. Slides are very in right now and look great with sweatpants! If you prefer slippers, you will for sure be warm and cozy throughout all of your travels! If you are staying in an Airbnb or in a house, you can also wear these when you are walking around the house!

#10 Water

OMG! Water is a total must-have for any type of traveling. Obviously, on the plane, it would keep you and your skin hydrated. Or if you are heading somewhere warm it is important to keep water in your system! There are a bunch of different kinds of collapsible water bottles that you can bring through airport security or you can even buy them once you get through the security line. If you are road tripping, you can bring any kind of water bottle along with you! This is a must-have for traveling!
