12 Travel Essentials For Every Roadtrip

Knowing the best travel essentials is important when you’re preparing for any road trip. Whether you need something to entertain you on the airplane ride or a cozy outfit, you don’t want to miss anything significant while you’re packing! Here’s a list of travel essentials that are guaranteed to make your trip go smoothly.

1. Portable Charger

When you travel to a place where you’ll be out and about most of the time, you’ll want to keep your phone charged. The first travel essential you need to pack is a portable charger. The fun thing about portable chargers is that you can always find cute ones online! They come in different shapes and sizes, so you don’t have to settle for a basic solid-colored portable charger. Be sure to prioritize this when you’re packing – you’ll likely find yourself using it a lot.

2. Fuzzy Socks

Fuzzy socks are essential to every suitcase! Be sure to stock up on these – especially as you travel for the holidays this winter. You’ll want to stay warm and cozy, and you can do it in style. Fuzzy socks are easy to snag from any retail store or online if you want to find a fancy pair.

3. Polaroid

Whether you’re traveling with friends or going solo, you’ll want to capture all those fun memories you make. Bringing a Polaroid is the perfect way to do this! Convenient and instant, Polaroids are the best way to ensure that your photos turn out right. Coming in a variety of styles, you can pick out the Polaroid that best fits your personal preferences. You’ll want to hang those adorable pictures up in your dorm room or put them in photo album.

4. Makeup Bag

When you’re traveling, you’ll need a place to stash all your favorite makeup brands. That’s why a makeup bag is the next travel essential on our list! Rather than throwing all your makeup in a suitcase, be sure to grab a reliable makeup bag that’ll keep your beauty products in one place. Whether you want to go big or small, makeup bags are sure to come in any size you prefer. Plus, they’re cute!

5. Backpack

Aside from having a big suitcase to fill with clothes and other essentials, you’ll need a backpack for when you’re on the go! Of course, backpacks can come in any style. My personal favorite is the Kanken backpack. Spacey on the inside and cute on the outside, you can go for any color or style. Any backpack will work – just make sure you bring one with you! You can fill it with your favorite snacks, camera, books… The list goes on and on.

6. Scrunchies

Let’s face it – hair can be a nuisance at times. If you’re traveling a long distance, you’ll want to be as comfortable as possible. That’s what brings us to the next travel essential; scrunchies! Scrunchies are gonna keep your hair out of your face while also serving as a fashion staple. Be sure to put plenty of these in your suitcase as you plan for your next trip.

7. Hydro Flask

While traveling a long way, you won’t want to stop every hour to spend money on water. Be sure to bring a hydro flask with you! Steel on the inside, your hydro flask will keep your water cold and fresh. You’ll also want to bring this with you on long outings where you won’t be returning to your hotel very often. Save yourself the money and the thirst by prioritizing this travel essential.

8. Blanket

Surprisingly, this may be something that slips your mind while packing! However, it’s important for you to bring a blanket while you travel. You may just want a piece of home while you’re away, or you may want one for its convenience in case you get cold on the plane or in the car. Either way, this is definitely a high priority travel essential that you won’t want to skip while you’re preparing for your trip.

9. Pill Organizer

Pill organizers are super underrated when it comes to traveling. Rather than keeping your pills stored in their regular containers, pill organizers will help you remember if you’ve already taken your pills for the day or accidentally skipped them. This is an easy way for you to keep track of your medicine. You won’t want to skip out on this! You can easily find a pill organizer in any local convenient store.

10. Journal

If you’re the type of person who likes to keep track of all your daily adventures, pack a journal to bring with you! Journals are great for reflecting on your day while having all your memories in a place where you can easily come back to them. You may also want to bring a journal to practice mindfulness techniques before starting the day. Find some prompts to follow online, or you could even create a to-do list to organize your travel itinerary. Whatever you decide to use it for, you can’t go wrong by bringing a journal!

11. Headphones

If you’re traveling on a plane, you’re bound to get bored pretty easily. Be sure to download your favorite tunes and pack some headphones so you have something to keep you entertained! Use your favorite headphones to listen to music or catch up on TV shows. Go for a wireless pair for ultimate convenience and comfort.

12. Sleep Mask

When you’re traveling on a plane full of people, it can be hard to get some shut-eye. The conversations around you compared with the light outside may make it difficult for you to fall asleep. Don’t skip out on bringing a sleep mask! Sleep masks are going to be your best friend while you’re traveling. Combine these with a pair of headphones and a relaxing podcast, and you’ll be out in no time. Get plenty of rest so you’re energized for your exciting trip!
