10 Travel Destinations To Visit Before You Die

As big as this world is, it can be hard to narrow down the places you want to visit before you die. Whether you’re looking to leave the country or travel across it, we’ve got your back! Check out these 10 travel destinations you need to visit before you die. We’ll even give you an idea of what to do when you arrive!

1. Rome, Italy

We all know the saying, “When in Rome!”, but what should you do when you get to Rome? For starters, you obviously need to eat some authentic Italian pasta. You’re bound to find tons of pasta and wine options everywhere, but aside from just food, Rome is bursting with history. While you’re there, be sure to visit the Vatican. The Vatican is home to the Roman Catholic Church, tons of historical sculptures, and the Sistine Chapel. Additionally, be sure to visit the Colosseum! The Colosseum is known for its rich history in hosting a series of gladiator events in the age of the Roman Empire. Aside from that, the Colosseum is the largest amphitheatre in the world and is named as one of “The New Seven Wonders of the World.”

2. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Known for its tropical forests and gorgeous beaches, Rio de Janeiro has everything you need when it comes to a travel destination. The city includes the Christ the Redeemer statue, which is considered the cultural symbol of Brazil and also falls on the list of seven wonders. Alongside that, Rio de Janeiro is home to the Copacabana Beach which houses tons of food options and the clearest water you’ll ever see. Be sure to explore the city center as well to find many different shops, parties, food options, and just a lively culture overall! When you get there, you won’t want to leave.

3. Cairo, Egypt

Located on the Nile River, Cairo is a gorgeous travel destination for anyone looking to experience a new culture. When you get there, you’ll undoubtedly need to check out the Pyramids of Giza. You can book a tour to check these pyramids out, and you’ll be astounded by their beauty. You’ll also want to visit the Egyptian Museum, which houses a variety of ancient artifacts including statues and jewelry. The Mosque of Muhammad Ali is another great historical visit that will blow your mind. Aside from its rich history, there are many different neighborhoods and bazaars to check out if you want to grab some handmade items.

San Francisco is the 13th largest city in the United States, and when you go there, expect to have an amazing, laid-back time. From the Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz Island, you’ll find plenty of amazing sights to see while you’re there. Alongside its gorgeous attractions, San Francisco is known for its steep hills and wine tastings. You can book a wine tour in the nearby Napa Valley area where you’ll grace your taste buds with some flavorful drinks. The streets of San Francisco are also lined with interesting thrift shops and coffee shops, so be sure to explore the city when you get there. And, of course, you can’t miss the set of Full House!

Known as a “global financial center,” Singapore is an island located in Southeast Asia bursting with culture and beauty. Singapore encompasses some of the most beautiful greenery in the world, so you’ll definitely want to head to the Botanic Gardens and the Gardens by the Bay to catch the trees and sculptures. Discover new bites in Singapore’s hawker centers, which include vendors serving notoriously cheap and delicious food options. When the sun goes down, be sure to hit up Singapore’s bars and clubs – because Singapore really likes to party, and there will never be a dull moment when you go there.

6. New Orleans, Louisiana

With its delicious Creole food and jazz music, you’ll definitely want to visit New Orleans before you die. The city is home to a number of festivals, including the famed Mardi Gras and the French Quarter Festival. New Orleans is known for its vast celebrations and parades, so it wouldn’t hurt to plan your visit around one of these annual festivals! Additionally, New Orleans is incredibly diverse, so you’ll be experiencing a number of different cultures and meeting many people from different walks of life. If you enjoy putting yourself out there, NOLA is definitely the place to do it.

If you enjoy going to the beach in any capacity, you need to add Fiji to your bucket list. Fiji has numerous white-sand beaches filled with palm trees and incredibly clear, blue water. Consider booking a cruise while you’re there to make the most out of the landscape. Additionally, you can discover Fiji’s wildlife by ziplining through the forest or going on a safari. Whether you want to kick back and relax on the beach, venture through the forests, or experience some amazing food, you’ll never get bored when you take a trip to Fiji.

Bordering the Caribbean Sea, Cancún is known for its lively nightlife, beautiful beaches, and gorgeous weather. While in Cancún, you can hit up historical sites like Chichen Itza or the Mayan Museum. If you’ve been saving up and you have some extra money to spend, you’ll definitely need to check out La Isla Shopping Village, which is filled with numerous indoor and outdoor shops and restaurants. From snorkeling with dolphins to ziplining through the forest, Cancún has something for everybody.

All my fellow wine drinkers, listen up… Because I’ve got the perfect place for you! Santorini is the place to explore new drinks and tastings. Santorini is famed for its wine making, and you’ll find vast vineyards to check out while you’re there. Perhaps one of the most beautiful aspects of Santorini is its unique geography, which was shaped by volcanic eruption in the 16th century. Because of this, within Santorini you’ll find numerous beaches, white washed villages, and interesting rocks. Whether you want to see a gorgeous sunset in Oia or the ruins of Akrotiri, you’ll be experiencing an incredibly beautiful landscape with unique drinks.

10. Phuket, Thailand

From exotic beaches to elephant parks, Phuket is an island you’ll want to add to your bucket list. While here, you’ll definitely want to visit the iconic Big Buddha statue, sitting atop a mountain that overlooks the island. Check out the sunset at Cape Phrom Thep, or explore the inner workings of the island by hitting up local markets and shops. Additionally, Phuket offers the opportunity to hang out with elephants! You can book a tour through the sanctuary where you’ll experience an incredible buffet and the opportunity to see the animals up close.
