Top Trending Hairstyles That Require Minimal Effort
If you want to sleep in an extra ten minutes- I get it! Getting up early for work or class can be exhausting on its own! Adding in getting ready before these events can be even more tiring. Here are some hairstyles that require minimal effort and let you get in your beauty sleep while looking great.
The best way to create minimal effort is through incorporating hair accessories! Here are a few looks with accessories that are under $5 and save you lots of time getting ready. These accessories can be found at any drug store or online and are worth the purchase!
1. Classic Claw Clip Updo
A classic updo look that takes no time and still looks stylish. Generations have worn this look and now it’s back! Claw clips are in stores everywhere and are great to keep in your purse. Target has them for $5 in a variety of colors and styles. This look is super simple: take your hair in a ponytail, twist it, and clip it! Done! What I love about this look is that you can change the clip or style to match your outfit or aesthetic. You can also do half-up/half-down if you are feeling a different style. It can also look chic if you don’t want the messy look and take a little hairspray to keep down the out-of-place hairs. The simplicity of this look saves you plenty of time for your morning routines and keeps your hair out of your face!
2. The Iconic Scrunchie
Who doesn’t love a good scrunchie? They are versatile and are popular enough to come in different sizes, patterns, and colors. One of the trendy looks returned are pigtails! Using smaller scrunchies can/ be super cute to create a pigtail look. If you aren’t a fan of these, space buns are still popular and can be a fun way to make a cute messy look. If you want to go for a classic look, a low ponytail or a high bun are the way to go with scrunchies. They are less harsh on pulling your hair and can be swapped with colors that go with your look. Pulling a few strands of hair from the scrunchie to frame your face can also create a pretty look. This can make it a more bohemian or messy vibe that looks effortlessly cute.
3. Not-Your-Childhood Clips and Barrettes
Another recent trend that requires minimal effort outside of a few dollars is barrettes. Not the butterfly ones from childhood (unless you want those, go for it!) There are lots of abstract-shaped clips with different colors and patterns available in stores. These are simple enough to just slip onto your hair and clip into place! I would recommend clipping the side away from your natural part (if it is on the right side, place a clip on the left.) This gives your hair an accessory that can start a conversation and takes no time to create a look with it. It can also add flair to your everyday style, creating a put-together look with minimal effort! Here is a tip: if you are dressing in monochromatic clothes, match your hair accessory to your outfit! Also, if you are dressing casual it can be a cute idea to add a bit of glam with a sparkly hair accessory that adds an element of fun to your outfit.
4. No Heat Overnight Curls
OK, this might seem a little out there but hear me out. Use tights as a way to curl your hair overnight! I love this method and it’s probably right in your dresser anyways. This is a no-heat way of curling your hair and you just brush it out in the morning. It’s that easy! It might seem like a weird method, but with no heat and pretty curls, it is well worth it. Another way for heatless curls is using spiral curlers. These can also be left in overnight to create an effortless look by the morning. If you are running late to class or work- these are great ways to put in the minimal effort with beautiful styles!
5. Learning to Braid
Braiding hair can be super beneficial in a time crunch. There are so many ways to create a cute look with minimal effort. I recommend learning how to French braid. This is a versatile way of braiding that can create an endless number of styles. French braiding your hair into two pigtails is a fun way to keep hair out of your face and keep it in place. You can also throw a beanie or hat on with the braids to give it an edgier look without the hat hair. Another way of French braiding can be a single braided ponytail. This is a great sporty look that will stay intact all day! You can smooth it out with hairspray and keep it looking extra chic. If these are too time-consuming- you can also French braid into a half-up/half-down look for minimal effort. It’s a classic choice but with a twist, the braid adds something different!
6. Classic Ponytail
You can use a scrunchie to add color and patterns to your style- but a new take on the classic pony requires one ponytail holder and a bobby pin! The simplest way to achieve this look is by taking your hair into a ponytail (either a high pony or low) and leaving thick strands of hair out underneath. Then, you take the strands and wrap them around the ponytail! You may need to do this once or twice depending on the thickness of your hair. You can also take as many strands of hair from underneath as needed to cover the elastic. Finally, you put the bobby pins into the excess strands, and instantly you have a stylish ponytail. This is a great style when you have important events but don’t want to invest too much into your hair!
