Top Spring Break Spots For The Broke College Student

Almost every college student waits and waits until they can finally let loose on spring break. But, for many students, money can be a problem. Don’t sacrifice your spring break for your rent. Here are some of the top spring break destinations for a college student on a budget.

1. Panama City Beach, Florida

Panama City Beach is settled along the Gulf Shore on the Florida panhandle. This is one of the most populated spring break spots which means that there are tons of stuff to do! The great thing about this destination is that the city’s hospitality industry has taken control and set up a lot of things for visitors to do on their spring break.

If you and your friends are the types of group that likes to experience new things and stay busy during spring break then Panama City Beach has a wide range of activities. But, if you and your friends are the types of group that likes to chill out, then you can layout on the beach all day and drink.

 

2. South Padre Island, Texas

South Padre Island is located in the southernmost county of Texas and is categorized as a barrier island. This was the first spring break location to gather a huge amount of popularity that was not located in Florida. They also have a lot of cheap hotel rooms in places like Super8 and other various motels. Even though your room might not be high class it will save you money.

The nightlife here is amazing and has something for everyone. During the day enjoy the sun and sand on the beach. You might even make some new friends! You can even ride a horse on the beach for a cheap price or partake in various water activities at a low price.

3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Aside from spring break, Myrtle Beach is also a high tourist area year-round. That means not only will you have beautiful views but a lot of things to do day and night. Myrtle Beach is home to the white sandy beaches located along the East coast.

Myrtle Beach is also home to the Family Kingdom Amusement Park which has the iconic Farris wheel. The amusement park is a fun activity to do day or night and provides hours of entertainment. Whether you want ocean views at an oceanfront motel or more luxurious lodging Myrtle Beach has great prices all around.

4. Key West, Florida

The Southernmost part of the U.S. Key West is the last in the string of islands of the end of Florida’s panhandle. Key West and the other Florida Keys have so many things to keep even the most restless traveler occupied.

These activities include visiting the southernmost point, seeing Hemingway’s house, shopping on Duval Street, seeing chickens and roosters roaming the streets, and taking fishing charters. There is even a state park in the Keys that has activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, a glass-bottom boat ride, and 2 different beaches.

There are so many places in the Keys to do water activities like renting jet skis, fishing, scuba diving, etc. One of the most famous is Robbie’s. There you can do all the things just mentioned as well as hand-feeding Tarpon.

5. Savannah, Georgia

Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia and at first, may not seem like a typical spring break vacation spot, but it actually has great nightlife. Savannah is comprised of different squares. Each square has a different name and purpose. Only 22 of the original 24 squares are still there today.

For spring breakers that are into things such as the occult or things that are difficult to explain, things like the paranormal, Savannah has a Walking Ghost Tour for you to experience. You can also rent a segue if you want to see the city of Savannah that way as well.

This is a great place to go if you don’t want to do the whole beach thing for your spring break. It is rich in history and has an amazing nightlife. This spring break spot will make for a great day and nightlife as well as not breaking your bank.

6. St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

If your spring break plans are for an international trip you should check out St. Croix. St. Croix is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands and has a unique culture due to the fact many nations helped shape the island. You can experience their culture by immersing your self in their arts and music by going to their festivals.

There are also a variety of things you can do here, like recreational activities, going to a casino, or even playing golf. The terrain of the island, like it’s culture is diverse. You can even experience a rain forest that is located in Frederiksted.

You might think that international travel is expensive, but with how many different websites there are nowadays for traveling it shouldn’t be difficult to find a round trip ticket in your price range.

7. Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is probably the most popular spring break spot for college students and because of this it is easy to find flights and hotel rooms at low prices. Your experience here can range from historical to lazy beach days. There is a lot of history in Cancun and offers many historical activities to partake in. But they also have many beaches if you would rather lay out and drink all day.

It’s also not hard to find beach parties or activities to join in on. Because Cancun is the most well-known spring break spots there are more things to do than most places. These activities include snorkeling, swimming in Cenotes, zip-lining, Chichen Itza Maya Ruins, and shopping at Mercado 28.

Mercado 28 is the largest shopping area in Cancun and is the perfect place to pick up souvenirs for your friends and family back home.
