Top Books On ‘BookTok’

One of my favorite places for book recommendations is TikTok and exploring the ‘BookTok’ hashtag. I picked out some of the top books I saw from those videos. I’ll list them here, along with a part of the book description and one or two book reviews from readers.

You can also check out the Goodreads sites for all these books, which will be linked under the title.

1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready, to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.”

I see this book pop up several times throughout BookTok, and it has a high rating on Goodreads. It is voted 4.47 out of 5 stars by readers on Goodreads.

Here are a few of those reviews:

“This book was so, so so GOOD!! I swear I was barely two pages in and already knew that I’d love with all my heart! There’s just something about that golden Hollywood era that captivated me right from the beginning and once Evelyn entered the scene I was a goner. I just loved the way her story was told!” 5/5 stars.

“I can’t say for sure what drew me to this book. It’s not the kind of thing I usually pick up, and I haven’t read anything by Reid before. But something about it intruged me. So I checked out the kindel sample. Just a couple chapters, I figured, because I probably wouldn’t like it anyway. And I was HOOKED.”

If you enjoy the book, Netflix is also said to be creating an adaptation of the book!

“Wow, what a start to the trilogy! I’m not sure what I expected going into The Cruel Prince, but it certainly wasn’t this much fun or this much nastiness.” 5/5 stars.

4. Verity by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover has grown in immense popularity on TikTok, and you can find countless posts talking about and reviewing her books.

This book has 4.42/5 stars on Goodreads.

“This one is a killer! So dark and disturbing. I was not expecting to love this one so much. Colleen Hoover writes romance books. this one is. thriller. I have seen authors go from romance to romantic suspense, but never have I seen an author go from Romance to a dark and disturbing crazy thriller. She knocked this one out of the ballpark.” 5/5 stars.

This book does have some reviews saying it’s disturbing and has some hard content, so if you want to read a calm romance book, I suggest checking out one of Hoover’s other books.
