We all know what it feels like to have those post-midnight cravings when we pull all-nighters during finals week at UH. Or sometimes we just need a place to sober up after a wild night of partying. Regardless of the situation, food is obviously always the answer. Unfortunately, college campuses are not very accommodating of our cravings after 10 PM. So here is a list of 10 restaurants open till late, just for the owls out there who want to grab a bite when the night is still young (at 2 AM).
Who says pancakes and waffles are only breakfast items? The nearest IHOP to the University of Houston is a five-minute drive to Gulf Freeway. If you decide to go here, definitely try the New York Cheesecake Pancakes. They are life.
UH dining has introduced a way to feed hungry teenagers late at night. What is better than the freshly made food from a food truck? The trucks rotate serving from Monday through Thursday from 11 PM to 3 AM. These trucks are located on the side of the Student Services Center building closest to Entrance 6, across from Cougar Village II and parking lot 6B.
This place serves eclectic grub that is light on the wallet. With its nacho libre, salmon pesto wraps and prosciutto, it is hard not to try this place. This eatery is located on Main Street and is open until 1 AM from Monday through Wednesday, until 2 AM from Thursday through Saturday, and until midnight on Sundays.
Honestly speaking, we just come here for the pies. If we wanted waffles, pancakes, crepes, or omelets, then IHOP is the place to go. This restaurant is located on Kirby Dr. and has mouth-watering desserts that would not normally be available at this hour of night. I highly suggest sharing with a friend, unless you really have an appetite.
If you are looking for a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy a scrumptious meal, this local Tex-Orleans café on Montrose Blvd is perfect for the occasion. They serve po’ boys, shrimp and grits, and gumbo in a casual setting. If you are from New Orleans, this café will be your home away from home.
This burger joint is located on Main Street, one of the busiest streets in Downtown Houston and is open 24/7. If you are looking to devour a juicy, flavorful burger at 2AM, then this is a great option. Poppa Burgers possesses the ambiance of a picnic, with its picnic tables under the covered outdoor seating area. The burgers are great and buying them isn’t going to break the bank.
Get your Big Mac right here anytime of any day. Stay up late with a quick dose of caffeine, or #treatyoself with the classic Oreo McFlurry for less than $5 each. This fast-food joint is located on Old Spanish Trail, only minutes away from campus.
This New York-style joint is open for 24 hours. At Katz’s, you can find anything from breakfast sirloin steaks to Scottish smoked salmon sandwiches and signature cheesecake shakes. Located on Westheimer road, this place is a only 10 minute drive away from campus, aka you are 10 minutes away from the taste of New York’s delicacies.
Word on the street is that this place has the best pizza by the slice in Houston, with exceptional customer service. Order any topping you like, traditional or edgy, and the waiters will speedily bring you piping hot pizza to ease your taste buds. That’s not even the best part. Pizza isn’t the only item on the menu. You can even order a whole pie or pie by the slice here. Talk about finishing up with something sweet!
