Top 10 Late Night Food Places Around CSUN

It’s past your bedtime and almost every restaurant is closed…but your stomach is still open for business. Maybe, you just want a quick bite to eat after studying or partying with your new Bible Study club members. However, searching through YELP or Google can take such a long time and you cannot put a pause on hunger. Well, look no further! We have a list of the Top 10 food stops and restaurants within the Northridge area for those who have the late night munchies at CSUN and don’t want to travel far.

1. Original Tommy’s Hamburgers

15745 Roscoe Blvd.

Famous for their Double Chili Cheeseburger, Tommy’s restaurant attracts hungry valley locals at every hour. Their signature chili is used on almost every item on the menu: hot dogs, fries, burgers…and even tamales? Talk about different from the rest! The best part? It is open 24/7! If you can’t get enough of that delicious chili, you can always order their “Chili To Go.” For more info, check out their site here.

2. El Indio Mexicano Restaurant

17019 Roscoe Blvd.

If American burgers aren’t on your mind, try this restaurant’s authentic Mexican food. Good news is their portions are huge! You really get what you pay for and can never go wrong with tasty tacos at 2:00 AM. Their hot sauce is what really puts them on this list; not too spicy, but very savory. Visit their site here.

3. In-N-Out Burger

8830 Tampa Ave. or 9858 Balboa Blvd.

This place isn’t just fast food. It is a heaven created for Californians! Why is it so mesmerizing? Could the secret be in the burger sauce, patty, or toasted bun? One thing is certain: all of these elements work together to create the most delicious burger on the West Coast. Luckily, for us valley folks at CSUN, we have two locations! And if you are wondering which one has the quickest drive-thru or shortest line, there is no answer. Unfortunately, every In-N-Out has a long line, but it all depends where in the valley you are driving/walking from. Check out their site here

4. Wang Dweh Ji Korean BBQ

7608 Reseda Blvd.

Wang Dweh Ji is possibly the only Korean BBQ joint that is open late for your appetite! Being a small restaurant, it provides a sense of intimacy, where the delicious meaty aroma never leaves. This hole-in-the-wall is easy to miss, since it is behind Denny’s–a very popular go-to spot for CSUN night owls. But, you don’t want to miss out on the all-you-can-eat dining experience. It is the perfect place to have fun with friends! Visit their site here

5. Yard House

9301 Tampa Ave.

Just outside of the Northridge Mall, Yard House is more of a bar than a dining restaurant. Even so, their vegetarian options on the menu are amazing! So, if you have a non-meat eater in the group, this would be the ideal place to go. For those that prefer meat in their late-night diet, I recommend the spicy jambalaya with pasta. Their signature Cajun cream sauce really puts it together! For more info on the menu, hours and more, visit their site here

6. Taco Trucks

Whether you are from LA or not, you will definitely notice the abundance of food trucks on every street with flashing signs that read: Tacos, Tortas, and Tamales. The delicious smell of meat and tortillas is simply irresistible. This option is great for the hungry Matador on a budget or someone who appreciates good, Mexican street food. When you make the trip, be sure to carry a $20 dollar bill in your wallet, because several food trucks only accept cash. Two taco trucks are located on the corner of Reseda Blvd. and Gresham St. or Reseda Blvd. and Lassen St.

7. Subway

(on-campus)

If you want your sandwich made by a “sandwich artist,” then this is the place for you. You can’t go wrong with a sandwich that has fresh veggies in it, right? My only suggestion is to grab some of those delicious white chocolate chip cookies, because Subway cookies are the best. The on-campus Subway at CSUN is a very convenient location for those that are coming from the Oviatt library, especially during finals. Check out their site here

8. IHOP

9012 Tampa Ave.

Thank the breakfast gods that this particular IHOP is open 24/7. Unlike Denny’s, it is a little pricier…but those buttermilk pancakes will definitely fill you up. Eat breakfast at night and dinner in the morning, like the adult that you are. Anything goes, because you make the decisions! Check out their site here

9. Buffalo Wild Wings

9301 Tampa Ave.

Gee, I wonder what they serve there? Escargot? No way, they got wings! Although most places that serve chicken wings close a tad too early for being in a college town, BWW is the savior of flavor when it comes to your chicken-wing cravings. Due to its prime location, the wait time tends to be a little long… so, they’ll send you a text notification when your spot is ready. Pretty convenient, huh? You might bump into your crush from that Yoga class and share wings “Lady-and-the-Tramp” style… Just kidding. He/she is most likely going to try the Gardein wings at Yard House, because “yogis”…am I right? Learn more here

10. Denny’s

9001 Tampa Ave. or 17018 Devonshire St.

Denny’s: the winner of all late-night food spots… It’s more of a hangout spot than a destination to save your starvation. Surprisingly, their coffee beats IHOP’s, because you can actually taste the rich roasted flavor. This is possibly the only major food chain that has more than 3 locations in the valley. The one location that is actually 4 star worthy is the one on the corner of Devonshire and Balboa. Don’t just take my word for it. Check out the reviews from Yelp! Look at their site here
