Tips To Wake Up Early Without Feeling Dead

Waking up early can definitely be a challenge, especially if you aren’t used to it. If you’re struggling with being a functioning human in the morning these tips will definitely help. Below are a few suggestions of what you can do to alleviate some of the stress and annoyance with having to wake up earlier than you’d like.

Go To Sleep Earlier

While this tip may sound obvious it’s one not a lot of people actually follow through with. If you’re just getting out of college you might be used to later nights and longer mornings because you strategically designed your schedule to start later in the day. Jobs typically don’t work like that. You can’t expect to go to sleep late and feel refreshed in the morning, regardless of the other tips you listen to. The recommended hours of sleep typically ranges from 7 to 9 hours. Figure out when you need to wake up, how long it take you to get ready and work backwards to figure out when your bedtime should be.

Plan Your Morning The Night Before

Another important thing you can do the night before is to plan out your morning routine. This will help you when you wake up early. Prepare your lunch for the next day, set out what food you’ll need to make a good breakfast and plan what you’re going to wear. By going over your routine the night before you’ll be able to go to bed stress free, knowing everything is ready for you the next day.

Have A Nice Alarm

Waking up to a blaring alarm isn’t pleasant. If you aren’t used to waking up early you will need an alarm, but that doesn’t mean an awful alarm. Instead find something that will wake you up without making you feel immediately annoyed or angry. For some it’s a different alarm sound, for others it can be music. You can even create a timer to begin playing a podcast or have your TV turn on at a certain time. A nice alarm will help you wake up early.

Do Not Snooze

Keeping in mind an alarm make sure whatever you decide on using you don’t hit snooze. While it is tempting to keep hitting that snooze button it’s never worth it. You might fall back asleep only to be woken up again and again by your alarm, ultimately making you even more tired than you were to begin with. Plus by hitting snooze you run the risk of being late. Once you wake up, actually get up. Sit up and allow your body to adjust to being awake.

Let The Sunshine In

When you’re sleeping you’ll want to be in a cool, dark environment but that’s not ideal to wake up to. Instead of keeping your bedroom like a cave you will want to make sure sunshine is able to come in. The natural light will instantly make you feel more awake and more refreshed. If you are someone who wakes up before the sun or works night shifts there are alarms that recreate the appearance of a sunrise. Or you can get smart bulbs and have them set to turn on at a particular time.

Morning Stretches

Once you’re up and out of bed your body may be stiff. Be sure to do some morning stretches before beginning the day. A lot of people try to workout in the morning but if that’s a bit too ambitious for you right off the bat a few poses will certainly do the job. A few good stretches will help shake off any lingering sleep when you’re trying to wake up early.

Have A Quality Morning Routine

Mornings can be rough because sometimes they just aren’t fun. You’re rushing, still sleepy and possibly even a little bit anxious about the day ahead. A good way to help you wake up early is to make your morning routine enjoyable. Rather than simply get ready, eat and rush out the door try to find a morning activity that you can look forward to. Whether that’s listening to a podcast, watching a quick video or enjoying a book on your balcony find something you will enjoy to make the mornings less manic.
