10 Tips To Help You Become A Morning Person

Ever feel like there just isn’t enough time in the day? Train your brain to enjoy an early morning and give yourself some extra hours to tackle those tasks.

1. Plan your day

Make space in your morning routine to plan your day. Whether you prefer a bullet journal or to-do list, having a productive day begins in the a.m. Write out your top two must-do tasks, and a few smaller ones that take less than 10 minutes to complete. Starting your day with a plan makes it easier to bring your A-game.

2. Make your bed

Nearly every Youtube vlogger and Instagram beauty guru is adamant that tucking in your sheets is an essential component to your morning routine. Making your bed in the morning has been proven to make you feel put-together – even if you aren’t. This simple step may help boost productivity for the remainder of your day (and make it harder to get tucked back in).

3. Turn on airplane mode

With our fingertips glued to the screen almost all day, nighttime is the perfect opportunity to give your brain a break. Before your head hits the pillow, turn on airplane mode. For added relaxation time, wait until you’ve completed your morning routine to tune back in. I promise, that email can wait.

4. Find something worth getting out of bed

Why should you leave your cozy comforter to start the day? Give yourself an incentive to get up, whether it’s a homemade latte, hearty breakfast or full-fledged skincare routine. Whatever it may be, finding an a.m routine that makes you want to leave your bed is essential to a good morning mentality.

5. Work it out

Yes, ugh, physical activity. No matter your schedule, squeezing in exercise can become impossible once the hustle and bustle of your day begins. Go for a 15-minute walk, do some simple yoga stretches or do a complete workout. Getting your body moving in the morning may seem a daunting task, but it will boost your mood for the rest of the day.

6. Comfort is key

Especially in the middle of the frigid winter months, a cozy robe or snuggly slippers can make hopping out of bed a bit more desirable. Set your warm morning clothes next to bed, so you’re less tempted to stay in the warmth of your duvet.

7. More charming alarm

The blaring tone of your iPhone alarm is less than ideal for a peaceful morning routine. Find a sound that will wake you up gently and gradually. If you’re a snooze-a-holic, charge your phone across the room and you’ll be forced to get up. Set only one alarm, so falling back asleep isn’t an option. It may be difficult at first, but your body will adjust and become accustomed to the early a.m.

8. Open the curtains

Let in some light and start your day by bringing up the blinds. Even better, sleep with the curtains open and allow the natural light to wake you up. Though it may feel early, your body’s internal clock will become in-sync with the suns cycle. Soon, waking up with the sun will be a breeze.

9. Set it up

Make your morning more amicable by preparing the night before. Set out your outfit, pack your lunch and put away the dishes. Though you may be hesitant to tackle these tasks at night, you’ll be grateful when your morning routine isn’t rushed or stressful.

10. Get your z’s

Last but not least, the easiest way to wake up early is getting adequate sleep. Trade in your nighttime television shows and Twitter-scrolling for some extra z’s. Getting 7 hours or more can give you increased energy, metabolism and improved mood.
