Mental Peace, also known as “Inner Peace”, is defined by Definitions.net as: “A state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress.” It is also known as being calm (both spiritually and psychologically) despite the presence of stressors.

Finding mental peace is not always easy. If you are stressed out constantly, please do not panic! This entire article is dedicated to helping those who are stressed out to achieve mental peace. While it may be difficult to find mental peace at first, however, you can practice certain techniques that will help you develop the mental peace that you are looking for and need.

1. Start A Gratitude Journal:

A great way to help find some mental peace for yourself is by starting a gratitude journal. At the end of each day, dedicate 10-20 minutes to write down three things you are grateful for of things that you did or experienced that day. As you write down these three things you are grateful more, make sure  you slow down and actually take time to reflect. Do not treat your Gratitude Journal Time as a task that you need to finish so could checkmark it off of your To-Do list!

Even if you don’t stress out constantly about anything, I highly recommend that each of you reading my article right now to start a gratitude journal four yourself as it will help you recognize and appreciate the little things in life! Most importantly, a gratitude journal will help you maintain your mental peace.

2. Forgive Those Who Have Wronged You:

Out of all of the tips featured on this list about how to have mental peace, this one might be the hardest one for most people to do: Forgiving those who have wronged you in the past. Forgiveness has heart-protective boundaries.

In order to have true mental peace, simply call someone who someone you’ve denied forgiveness and tell them you forgive them. That way, you will be able to set yourself free from those negative thoughts.

3. Meditate:

One of the most common ways and tips for one to have mental peace is by practicing meditation. Experts at The Mayo Clinic have said that meditation has proven to aid in both decreasing stress levels and making people much happier. Along with obtaining some mental peace, meditation will help reset one’s mind.

Spiritual wellness promotes harmony and tranquility within yourself. It is also extremely important for both mental peace and wellness.

Dedicate a couple of minutes each day to sit down and do some deep breathing, mind-clearing, and introspective thinking. To meditate, one can take 100 deep breaths and count “and one,” “and two,” and so on, with “and” on the inhalations and the numbers on the exhalations. There are also many online apps and websites out there for people to choose from that conduct productive meditation sessions.

4. Stop Worrying About What Others Think About You:

One of the biggest insecurities that stress people out the most and prevents us from having mental peace is the constant fear of what our fellow peers think about us. Trust me, this is something I struggle with and I know how hard it is to not think about what someone else is thinks/feels about you.

To achieve mental peace, you MUST REMEMBER this: Always be who you truly are and be confident in your skin. If others think negatively of you, it’s their problem, not yours. The more you try to go about being someone who you are not, the efforts of showing a perfect you will eventually tire you out.

5. Surround Yourself With Positive People:

One of the easiest ways to have mental peace is by surrounding yourself with positive people. Avoid those who make negative comments, drag you down constantly, and/or have a bad aura.

6. Don’t Be Jealous:

Stop being jealous and comparing yourself to other people. Jealously is a heart killing disease that poisons your soul and steals some already established mental peace.

7. Organizing and Cleaning Around The House:

Trust me, I know cleaning up and organizing around the house sounds like a chore and is the last thing that people want to spend their free time doing. However, organizing and cleaning up around the house can be therapeutic and aid in your search for mental peace.

As reported by Psychology Today, organizing and cleaning will provide a much happier and healthier environment at home. One can start off by reorganizing and cleaning his/her bedroom and study areas. A cleaner bedroom and study area will not only result in a happier and healthier environment but will also enable you to regain self-control and get a better quality of work done.

8. Quit Procrastinating and Solve It:

Procrastinating won’t do people any good. The solution to eliminating procrastination? Stop doing it! Instead of procrastinating, start solving your issues and problems right away so you don’t have to deal with the stress that comes with them (depending on the situation, of course).

Remember, the longer you wait, the worse the tension inside of you becomes. Whatever your problems are, get started by solving them now! That way, you will be able to have mental peace.
