I love the New Year. It’s a clean slate; a fresh mindset, and the perfect excuse to actually do all of the things I’ve been wanting to do for the past year. It’s time for a fre$h start (cue the cliché music); surround yourself with amazing people and good vibes. The kind of people who are making moves, growing and learning. Trust your instincts. Love yourself. Love your body. Drink more water, practice yoga; do what makes you happy. Be independent. You don’t need no man, babygirl. Here are some of my tips for a New Year mindset.
This is a new year with new experiences and new chances. Find what you love. Fall in love with yourself.
Envision yourself a year from now. Where do you want to be? Make it happen. You’re the only one who can.
We all have to go through hard times to be able to appreciate something good. Growth is a beautiful thing. Reminder: It’s never too late to become a better version of yourself. And it’s also never too late to get your shit together.
Yourself.
One of my favorite tips of all. You know yourself over anyone else, so anyone’s opinion about you is completely irrelevant. Kill ‘em with kindness and do you, ma. And never apologize for it.
Sometimes self-expression bleeds through those distressed jeans. Know that.
Accept what’s gone. There’s a reason certain people walked out of your life. Trust your path.
Don’t let people disrespect you. Put somebody in their motha effin place if you have to. And if it’s a dude, respect yourself. There’s too many people in the world for you to be stuck in a toxic relationship.
Be thankful for the lessons and move on. Positive thinking brings blessings, remember that.
Go into the next semester with the attitude Elle Woods had after Warner told her she wasn’t smart enough for law school. In the words of Miss Badass Bitch Nicki Minaj, “ain’t neva need a man to take care of me.”
We’ve all had a crazy ex who screwed us up in the past…but have standards. Know yourself. Know your worth, then add tax. If he ain’t treatin’ you right girl, gain some self respect and drop him real quick. Repeat after me: He. Ain’t. Shit.
Make time to clear your head. We get so busy sometimes that we let our thoughts consume us without even realizing it. Meditation is an instant mood enhancer.
Comparison kills individuality.
Here’s some squat challenges we all can do: here. Khloe K, I see you.
Network. Make connections. Be kind to everyone you meet. You never know who you’ll need one day.
Study. Read books. Intelligence goes so much further than physicality.
The only thing you should be chasing are drinks & dreams. If he likes you, he will go above and beyond for you. One day a man will wake you up with kisses all over, telling you how much he loves you, followed by lots of smiles and tickles. One day someone will look at you the way you look at a Chanel bag. Don’t rush. Be patient.
You’re gonna be hating yourself for all those Redbull & vodka nights instead of those stay-in and study-yo-shit nights.
Stuff happens, I get it. But don’t let it consume you, darling.
It’s not a competition. We need to empower one another and stick together. Come over, let’s talk shit about him together.
Everything.
To sum it all up…
Be thankful for what you have, always.
Drop negative influences from your life.
It’s amazing how quickly the blessings will come.
Taking the time to reflect on your actions is good for the soul.
Eat healthier. Travel. Exercise. Think before you act.
