Sometimes life can get a bit hectic that it’s easy for our living/working spaces to become a mess. Staying organized can almost seem like an impossible dream. Well, I’m here to tell you that it is not impossible. In fact, all you need is a few easy tips to help you stay on top of things. Here are 5 ways to stay organized and help you avoid a mental break down from living in a mess.

1. Planners/Notebooks/Folders

I know this is something you’ve probably heard of before; these items are like the symbol for being organized. That’s because they’re constantly being used and they work! Nowadays, you hear of people using their cell phones and computers as a planner. This could work for some people, but having a written planner helps motivate staying organized.

It is like your own personal source of knowing how your day is going to go. Notebooks and folders are good for staying organized because they can be used for different subjects. Not just for classes, but keeping track of different areas of your life such as exercise, food diaries, work, doctors appointments, and bills. They’re not hard to stock up on either. Dollar stores sell them and discount stores like Walmart and Target. Especially when a back-to-school season is over and they have a MAJOR clearance! Keep an eye out!

2. Setting Reminders On Your Phone

This is a part where your phone plays a useful part for staying organized. It usually comes with a ‘Reminders’ setting or app already installed. If not, there are a few free apps that you can look into that vary depending on the type of phone you have. Even using something as simple as the calendar on your phone can help you with reminders.

Putting reminders on your phone is a good way to help you by staying organized because there are alarms that you can set. So no matter where you are, your phone will always be there to make sure you remember the tasks that you need to complete that day.

3. Setting Aside Time To Clean

Is there is a special place in your home that you consider a comforting work spot, but it distracts you when you feel like it’s a mess? Setting a time to clean every day or once a week will help you feel less distracted or stressed. You’d be surprised at how much you can get accomplished in an hour. Depending on how quickly it gets messy, cleaning for an hour once a day at the same time will help you keep on top of that.

5. Supply Kit

This kit is the key to staying organized. Buying yourself a box or plastic container that holds the necessities of everyday life. I’m talking, pens, pencils, sharpies, rubber bands, paper clips, stapler, the works.
