10 Tips On How To Stay Fit During The Winter
Despite all the feasting and celebration that occurs during mid November to early January, staying fit can be lost or forgotten. Here are 10 tips on how to stay fit during the winter!
1. Plan ahead some alone time
Planning before returning home for the holidays can be a great way to make sure you set some time aside to avoid stress.
2. 10 minute cardio
Time and space are two things that can be extremely limited during the holidays. Doing about 50-100 jumping jacks, 20 squats, 10 push ups, and 30 second planks can get you going first thing in the morning.
3. Hold the liquor, drink your water
To avoid getting burnt out when trying to stay fit, hydration is key. Keeping hydrated throughout the day and night of partying is essential. Remember less is more.
4. Be smart about late night snacking
Instead of pasta, or a whole bag of popcorn, consider having 1-2 granola bars and a bottle of water to get you through the night.
5. Workout plans
Try finding a workout plan that suits your lifestyle. These are all over social media or perhaps follow your favorite fitness role model for some inspiration and weekly workout plans.
6. Do not skip meals
Going out hungry or arriving hungry at any event is not the best idea. Snack through out the day to help keep your portion sizes under lock and key.
7. Just keep walking
I know, I know, winter is not a joke if you live in the Northeast and walking is definitely not an option either. But, bundle up and take that walk around your neighborhood. Move as much as possibly can!
8. Morning boosts
A quick blend of your favorite fruits and veggies for a smoothie can be the boosts you need to start your day.
9. Keep a food journal
Keeping a journal of how much you are partaking daily can help give you the motivation to step back and get to the gym.
10. Treat yourself
Buy yourself some new workout gear. This is a great incentive to get you moving and exercising.
