Tips On How To Spice Up Your Long-distance Relationship

Being in a long distance relationship is no joke. It gets challenging and can get more troublesome than if you were together all the time. I know it first hand – I study in Scotland whereas my boyfriend is back in Poland. It really is scary, especially if firstly you were living in the same city and suddenly you are ripped apart from each other. It gets hard. However, there are ways to make it a little bit more bearable. This is why I created a list of things you can do to spice up your long-distance relationship and keep the flame burning.

1. Send letters and gifts to each other

It seems a little bit outdated and nowadays, relationships are mostly through social media. And while that’s totally fine, when you don’t see each other on a daily basis and live far away, sending letters and small gifts will bring back a lot of romance to the relationship. Especially letters, they will be a wonderful thing to look back on. You won’t probably ever read your old messages on Messanger, but I can guarantee you’ll read all the letters more than once.

2. Skype calls are life savers

This is your idea of a date now. Schedule them if you’re both busy or wing it and do spontaneous ones if you can. They are free, so you can talk for hours when you get a chance. It’s the best way to catch up and talk about anything and everything. You can also get a little naughty if you feel like it.

3. Send naughty pictures

Yes, this might be a little tricky and dangerous, but there are ways to go around it. Also, I’m not talking about full on naked pics – leave something to the imagination. But a little bit of a bra or a selfie in just a t-shirt will do the trick.

4. And dirty messages

When you’re in a long distance relationship not only can you not see each other, you can’t touch each other. And nights can get lonely. That’s why to spice things up, send some dirty texts, not only at night but also at any time of the day, even if you know they have classes or are in a meeting. It will definitely keep things interesting between you two!

5. Watch movies and TV show together

This has to be one of my favourite ways to spend time with my boyfriend when we are separated. It really makes you feel like you are closer to each other, as well as catching up on shows won’t take as much time when you finally get together. Just pick something on Netflix, agree on what time you hit play and you can watch and comment, just like you were sitting next to each other.

6. Play games together

If you both enjoy playing computer games, you can still easily do it when you’re in a long distance relationship. Find a game that you think both of you will enjoy, call each other on Skype and play coop online! It’s such a great way to feel a bit closer to each other!

7. Try to visit each other as much as possible

Yes, this is the obvious one, but in a long distance relationship, it’s really important to see each other once in a while if you can. If you’re short on money, try finding cheap flights  – buying tickets long in advance will always guarantee you a smaller price. What’s more, instead of buying a Christmas or birthday gift, just fly to your loved one for that occasion.

8. Or meet halfway

This is probably one of my favourite ways to spice up a long distance relationship that I have yet to try. Go somewhere together for a weekend to an unknown place for both of you. It will be a small vacation where you can make up for the lost time.

9. Send cute videos

When you are not together, sometimes you might feel like you’re missing out on other person’s life because you are not there to witness it. That’s why try to send short cute videos of the simplest things, even just what you bought. It’s like short vlogs for your significant other.
