5 Tips To Find The Cheapest Flight Possible

1. Timing is everything.

When it comes to booking flights, deals can literally change by the second. The price of your ticket changes as people buy and cancel their own. However, there is one tip that can help you find the cheapest flight available – purchase your ticket six weeks before you leave. This is generally the time when the cost will be the lowest. Sometimes, though, airlines post incredibly cheap tickets by mistake, so definitely keep your eyes open!

2. Don’t write off Mondays.

Mondays may not be your worst enemy anymore (okay, okay, let’s not go that far). You can help find the cheapest flight out there by booking your arrival and departure during the weekdays. Weekend flights are much more coveted than anything taking off during the week for obvious reasons (people have work/school/etc. during the week). Due to the lower demand on weekdays, airlines tend to drop flight prices on these days. So if you can, try choosing a return flight on Monday as opposed to Sunday…even if that means you have to miss a class or two.

3. Look for hidden fees.

You know all that junk that comes pre-installed on your phone that you will never use and yet eats up your all gigabytes? Well, airlines employ the same trick by pre-selecting booking options which automatically increase your price…options you probably don’t even need. Be sure to scrutinize all the details before you fill in your credit card info and hit submit.

4. Take the road less traveled.

The airport that is the most convenient can also be the most expensive. There may be a cheaper airport in the vicinity that offers much cheaper flight options, so do your research. While it may be a bit of a hassle to go out of your way to get to that less traveled airport; you could end up saving hundreds of dollars…and I’d say that’s pretty worth it in the end.

5. Get your money back….

Think of all the money you’ve spent ordering textbooks from Amazon, or the cash you dropped at Best Buy for your new laptop. Now imagine if all those dollars translated into free airline miles. Not sure what I’m getting at? I’ll spell it out for you: many airlines offer rewards cards that rack up miles every time you make a purchase. You can then use these miles towards the purchase of a flight. All the specifics vary between airlines, but with a little bit of research, you can be on your way to the white sand beaches of Hawaii…without spending a dime!
