15 Tips And Tricks for Studying Abroad

Regardless of the continent you choose to study in, studying abroad is one of the best programs a university has to offer. Not only will you have the best food and the time of your life, but studying abroad will change you in ways you have never imagined.

Your character will be shaped greatly, and your perspective on the world will change as well. While gazing at national monuments and picturesque landscapes, you’ll discover all of the beauty the world has to offer. Your time abroad will be the best money you have ever spent.

1. Avoid tourist traps.

Go off the beaten path but avoid scary alleyways.

2. Learn the language.

Even if it’s just the basics, a little will go a long way.

3. Become familiar with the local cuisine.

4. Research places that you’d want to go to.

Keep track of restaurants, landmarks, and everything in between so you don’t miss a thing!

5. Try you best to assimilate to the culture.

Dive in head first with an open mind.

6. Don’t be afraid to try something.

Whether it’s blood sausage or something else unique, it is most likely delicious.

7. Become friends with locals.

They will teach you everything you need to know.

8. Enjoy the moment rather than trying to find the perfect photo opportunity.

9. Learn how to read a map.

The more familiar you become with how to read a map, the more exploring you can do! And definitely be sure to get one everywhere you go.

10. Explore.

Walk aimlessly, you’ll always find something.

Try and visit neighboring countries on the weekends.

12. Pick a country that’s outside your comfort zone.

13. Become aware of the social and political climate.

Do your research and become familiar with the history of the country.

14. Only pack the necessities.

Leave room for the new things you’ll pick up along the way.

15. Pack a travel journal and try to write every other night.
