12 Things You’ll Regret Not Doing At CSUSB

After attending CSUSB for four years, I must say that I regret not participating in almost all of our campus events. I was that one student who went to class, didn’t talk to anyone, and went straight home. I really didn’t give myself the chance to experience college life. If you want to know more, keep reading to find out about 12 Things You’ll Regret Not Doing at CSUSB.

1. You Didn’t Pledge For a Sorority or Fraternity.

This will definitely be one of the greatest regrets in my life. This is a great way to meet new people and form some lasting bonds. Don’t be like me, go out and find your future brother and sisters.

2. Living in the dorms, even though it’s not ideal.

Although, I loved staying with my grandparents off-campus- I never really had the chance to experience dorm life. You should try it, at least for a semester.

3. You never really took advantage of your schools library.

I usually bought all of my necessary materials at the bookstore, and always studied at my home. It’s best to utilize all of your resources. Studying would’ve been easier, and it’s a great way to connect with classmates.

4. You bought a gym membership even though your school had one for you to use.

Save your twenty dollars a month for something more tangible, and utilize the gym you paid for in your tuition. The only time I stepped foot in mine was during the freshman tour during the summer.

5. You never really participated in community events.

If you love giving back to the community try volunteering during Coyote Cares Day. Food drives are an excellent way of giving back, and helping those in need.

6. You didn’t attend the annual ASI Winter Concert.

Just go. If you don’t, you’ll seriously question your life choices.

7. You passed on Summer Movie Nights at the Pfau Library lawn.

I mean a free movie and free popcorn. Who in their right mind would pass this up? Bring sure to bring a cuddle buddy and blanket.

8. There was a P.A.W.S. event going on during finals week and you didn’t go.

With therapy dogs you can cuddle, free massages, and henna tattoo artists around there’s no way I’d miss that. It’s a great way to DE-stress and unwind while you wait for that exam grade to post on Blackboard.

9. The Annual Arts & Music Festival was an afterthought.

Beer garden, jazz, and art exhibits should have you running towards the visual arts building. Don’t skip out on this, especially if you’re an art lover. Best thing, you can bring your family and little ones if have them.

10. When a presidential candidate is said to speak at your school attend: whether you agree or disagree with their views.

One thing I absolutely regret is not going to Hilary Clinton’s rally at my school. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I missed it. So if you’re debating about what to do, rule of thumb- just go.

11. Coyote Tailgates outside the Rec Center are a must.

Again, at college nothing is ever free, but when there’s free food I’m in. Bring a friend and get your grove on because there’s always a live DJ.

12. You didn’t give Mic Night a chance.

Mic night is great when you want to listen to some authentic poetry and prose being read. Don’t take these nights for granted. We have some talented yoties on campus.
