10 Things You Should Never Leave Your House Without
It is so easy to leave your house without everything you need, and sometimes you don’t even realize it until you need them an hour or two later, and it’s too late to turn back and get them by that point. So here is a list of everything you can never leave your house without again. I hope this list helps you remember everything you need from now on.
1. Cell Phone
This seems like something you would never leave home without, but you’d be amazed at how many times I’ve had to turn around and go back home because I left my cell phone in my bedroom or on the kitchen table.
Everything that you need is on your phone. We can get directions somewhere with our phone, we can make phone calls on the phone, we can even surf the web on our phones. They are probably one of the most important things to have with you at all times, so you can’t leave your house without your cell phone in your hand.
2. License/Work I.D.
You can’t do a whole lot without your license, especially when you’re driving. Forgetting to bring your license could end up pretty horrible for you, so I wouldn’t leave your house without bringing the license with you.
If you need an I.D. to get into work, you can’t leave your house without it either, or you might not be able to get into work. Both of these things are usually in a wallet, but sometimes you might leave it in your house. You also might have one of those stick on wallet on your phone, in which case, you really can’t leave your house without the phone.
3. Money
This may also be something that sounds really stupid, especially if you use debit or credit cards for everything instead of actual money. But you really can’t leave your house without money because you never know when you might need it for something.
Money is useful when you have a car because it is easier, and cheaper, to use cash when getting gas than a credit card. But you can use a credit card for basically everything else. This is something that you would probably keep in a wallet or in the card holder on the back of your phone, but just double check to make sure you have money before you leave the house.
4. Keys
If you are leaving your house to get into your car, then chances are you’ll have your keys in your hand. But if a friend is picking you up, or you’re using Uber, make sure you have your keys to get back into your house before you leave.
Also, if you’re driving your car, don’t forget to make sure to take your keys out of your car before you leave. I’ve locked my keys in my car plenty of times before, so make sure you are holding your keys in your hand before you lock your car and leave. You also want to make sure you have both your house key and your car keys, don’t leave one at home or in your car.
5. Hand Sanitizer
This never used to be a big deal because people didn’t use hand sanitizer every time they touched something. But now we do, so you really can’t leave the house without having an extra bottle of hand sanitizer with you at all times.
I have hand sanitizer in my car and attached to my key lanyard, but I still check to make sure I have some before I leave every single day. This is something we’ll probably be doing for the rest of our lives, too, so you might want to keep a bottle near your wallet or keys, that way you’ll bring it with you whenever you leave the house.
6. Water Bottle
I never leave the house without a water bottle in my hands. You never know when a five-minute trip to the grocery store could turn into an hour trip to seven other stores, too. It’s also always a good thing to stay hydrated, even if it’s cold and snowing out.
I never used to bring a water bottle with me, but then I got stuck on a trip with my friends that lasted the whole day instead of an hour. Now I never leave the house without bringing a water bottle with me. You could also just leave the bottle in your car, as long as you replace it every week. You don’t want the water to stay in your car too long, then it will get moldy.
7. Sunglasses
I wear glasses, so bringing sunglasses never occurred to me because I’ve had glasses since I was ten. When I found out I could get contacts, though, I went out and got sunglasses right away. Now I never leave my house without them.
Even if it’s cloudy when you first leave the house, the sun can still be shining through the clouds. Also, if you wear contacts especially, sometimes having the heat or air conditioning on, your eyes can get dry and start bothering you. The sunglasses can protect your eyes from getting dry or from the sun bothering them.
8. An Extra Jacket
Even if it’s eighty degrees outside, your car or the store you’re going to can still be cold. Never leave home without an extra jacket in your possession. It would be really useful on those days where the temperature drops really quickly.
Sometimes it’s supposed to be in the seventies outside, and when you open the door and it’s a lot colder out. On those days, having an extra jacket in your car would be really useful. You could also have a sweatshirt instead of a jacket because they’re a lot more comfortable. Either way, you’ll be really happy to have the extra jacket with you.
9. Headphones
If you’re like me, then music is really important to you. But sometimes you can’t play your music out loud, especially if you’re using public transportation. Having a pair of headphones with you would be really useful on those days.
I have an extra pair in my car, in case I forget my good ones at home. I also have a pair in my backpack, for days I forget them when I go to class. As long as you remember to look before you leave the house, you’ll be all set. It would be awful if you forget them somewhere, or if you lose them, because they are so important.
10. Snack
I am hungry all the time. I never leave the house without having a snack with me, even if I’m only going to my friend’s house, where there is always food. You don’t want to be hungry, so bringing a snack is very important.
I have a snack in my car and in my backpack. I replace it every single day, mostly because I ate it and need something else. But if you don’t eat your snack all the time, don’t forget to replace it every once in a while. There is nothing worse than forgetting to eat breakfast and then seeing that your granola bar is moldy or something.
Bonus: A Mask
This is something that we, hopefully, won’t have to worry about for too much longer. But for right now, the worst thing to do is leave the house without a mask. You can’t do anything without one, including a walk around your neighborhood.
Things seem to be getting better now, which is awesome, but it is still important to have a mask with you when you leave the house. I keep an extra one in my car and in my backpack, just in case I leave the house without one. But it is very important that you do not leave the house without having a mask in your hand.
