If you go to Texas A&M University, you are fully aware of the importance of traditions. To get the most out of your experience at TAMU , here are some of the things you should know to never do.
Unless you’ve got some sort of death wish. Legend has it, if you walk under the tree alone, you can kiss a romantic relationship goodbye.
No one knows A&M’s obsession with restricted walking areas, but everyone abides by them. Mostly. Walk around the seal unless you’re willing to trade your ok, sometimes good, luck for the bad kind.
Seriously, you’d be jeopardizing not only your own luck, but everyone else who puts their trust in good ole Sullivan Ross. Not to mention it’s like a thousand years of bad luck. Try acing your finals after that you thief.
As previously stated, Aggies are big on tradition. If you find yourself in the middle of some super Redass seniors, you can say hello to push ups in the hot blistering sun and a tiny spot between the seats of the bleachers proving your own redass-ness. So as tempting as that whoop seems, you’ll just have to wait your turn. Unless of course you’ve got senior privilege.
Yay that you just got that Aggie Ring, but please don’t try to down a pitcher of beer if you’ve never drank a day in your life. Trade it out for water or something equally settling. It’s for the best.
A&M has a huge reputation for being one of the friendliest campuses around, so when you passing someone, don’t forget to give them a nice big howdy.
If you’re not big on tons of drunks, you probably shouldn’t go. Besides, when you’re living in the dorms, Chilifest weekend is the best weekend for laundry because everyone is nursing a hangover. Chilifest is fun- just know it’s for a very drunk crowd.
She may be a dog, but she’s the equivalent to Beyoncé on campus. Legend has it, if she barks in class, everyone can leave. Plus, she’s super cute. Cheers to Queen Rev.
As harmless as it sounds, you should know that for every touchdown, you’re supposed to kiss your date. So either choose wisely or go with friends- I’m sure it will be fun either way.
Don’t just sit around all year. There are tons of organizations, sports, and clubs to get involved in. If you sit out of everything, I promise you will deeply regret it. Make friends and help each other slowly bleed maroon and white.
