12 Things You Only Understand If You Grew Up In Mansfield, TX

A lot of people don’t know of Mansfield or have never heard of it. I have lived here for a good 20 years and here are a few things about Mansfield that you need to know if you’re out of town or understand if you grew up in Mansfield, TX.

A lot of people don’t know of Mansfield or have never heard of it. I have lived here for a good 20 years and here are a few things about Mansfield that you need to know if you’re out of town or understand if you grew up in Mansfield, TX.

1. The house by the train tracks.

Everyone who grew up in Mansfield, TX or has driven by, have seen two bright green challengers at a small, kind of sketchy house. There are many rumors on how they were able to get brand new cars, one of them being that they won the lottery, but no one knows for sure.

2. The train.

The train comes so frequently that it irks everybody, especially me. It has the worst timing as it always comes when there’s somewhere you have to be.

3. The places to go.

There really aren’t many places to go in Mansfield, but when you’re bored there are a few places that come to mind. One of them is Joe Pool Lake and Hawaiian Falls, but only when it starts getting warmer. Next, is Cinemark. When it was made, I’m pretty sure everyone was happy they didn’t have to go all the way to Burleson just to watch a movie. Finally, there is Urban Air which, honestly, who doesn’t like to be a kid again and jump on trampolines for a few hours?

4. One of the only things to do is eat.

There’s restaurants and fast food joints on every corner. The places that everyone goes to with lines out the wazoo is Whataburger and Chick-fil-A. Our Whataburger is open 24 hours inside so it’s the place to chill and be a little tipsy without anyone judging you because lets face it we’ve all been there.

5. The glow up.

When you grew up in Mansfield, TX, it was and is still a beautiful town. However, there was never anything to do here and if you wanted to, you had to drive to another city. Now we have shopping centers, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, and our very own movie theater. Mansfield is a place that has old mixed in with the new because we’re not afraid of being modern but still showing where we came from.

6. Always Construction.

There is construction all the time. To be honest, it gets really annoying. It takes us longer to get to where we need to go and we don’t have time for that.

7. Rose Park.

Not only is this the place to exercise, walk your dog, or play some sports, but for some teenagers this is the place to “hangout.” There are many secret spots that everyone goes to smoke or so I’ve heard.

8. Pickle Parade.

This is an annual event in downtown that has marathons, the parade, and finally the after party. We are the pickle capital of Texas so come down for the pickle eating and pickle juice contests!

9. You know everyone.

You honestly can’t go to Walmart or to any store/restaurant for that matter without seeing someone you know. It’s also worse when your parents see someone they know because you know you’re stuck for a good hour or so.

10. Starbucks.

I don’t know if I’m the only one who has gone through this, but there is the nicest guy at my Starbucks who gives out free drinks all the time. He;s enthusiastic 24/7. Mansfield peeps will know who.

11. Mansfield High.

I didn’t personally go to Mansfield High, but I’ve heard way too many stories of it being the place to get any and all drugs.

12. We’re big on sports.

What high school in Texas isn’t? I have to say that Mansfield is pretty damn good when it comes to all sports. Many teams have gone to the playoffs, state finals, and state championships.
