12 Things You Only Understand If You Grew Up in Boston

1. If you grew up in Boston, you understand the difference between Jimmies and Sprinkles.
Jimmies are the chocolate ones and sprinkles are the rainbow ones, if you disagree you do not belong here.
2. Dunkin Donuts hot cups are a necessity.
This type of survival technology is what separates us from the animals.
3. You have an expectation for there to be a Dunkin everywhere.
If you grew up in Boston, you don’t even bother asking Siri where the nearest Dunkin is because you know if you keep driving up the road one will appear.
4. You know what someone means by Bubbler (or Bubblah).
Water fountain? I don’t know her.
5. You understand how to pronounce names of nearby towns/cities.
Worcester(Wuh -stah), Gloucester(Glah- Stah), Scituate (Sit-chu-wit) Billerica (Bill-rica).
6. You get how obsessed some people are with Vineyard Vines.
Either you or someone you know probably has an unhealthy obsession with the brand. Wearing a clothing brand that is inspired by Boston’s favorite vacation destination is just another way to show one’s hometown pride.
7. You would never disrespect your city by referring to it as Beantown.
The term Beantown is blasphemous and even reading it makes you cringe.
8. You were raised with a hatred for New York City.
While the rest of the world grew up believing New York City is a beautiful magical place, you’ve literally been raised to turn up your nose by the utterance of the name.

Considering every major sports team in Boston has won a championship in the past 10 years, you are pretty accustomed to life on the top. The loss to the Eagles doesn’t even phase you because you know we’ll be back to the Superbowl next year.
