10 Things You Need To Know Before University Of Hartford Orientation

Every incoming freshman wants to be prepared for their orientation. Here’s what you need to know to know what to expect at University of Hartford orientation.

1. It’s normal to be nervous!

Whether you’re committed to the college or not, University of Hartford orientation can seem intimidating. A lot of information is given out to both the parents and students. I know personally when I went to my orientation date, I was the most anxious about sleeping in the dorms for the night. In reality, there was nothing to be scared about. Orientation days are so packed full of talks and events that the only time you actually spend in your dorm is when you’re going to sleep.

2. Wear comfortable shoes.

You walk around the entire campus, wear shoes that are comfortable! Your feet will thank you!

3. Bring bed sheets, a pillow, and a blanket.

This sounds silly but I almost forgot to bring my own pillow. Make your bed just like you would at home. It makes sleeping in a new place more comfortable.

4. Be ready to ask questions.

A lot of information is going to be thrown at you throughout your two days of University of Hartford orientation. Not everything makes sense so don’t be afraid to ask questions, someone most likely be wondering the same thing.

5. You don’t have to dorm with your orientation roommate.

The person you dorm with at orientation doesn’t have to be your roommate once you move in. If you get along, that’s great! If not, remember you only spend a small amount of time together

6. Be out-going.

Orientation is a great way to meet fellow classmates. If you are shy, try stepping out of your comfort zone. I’m usually very quiet around new people, but at orientation I forced myself to talk to people and I met some amazing friends!

7. Go into orientation with a positive mindset.

Orientation is what you make of it. Remind yourself that everyone is just as nervous as you are. Don’t allow your fears to stop you from having fun at University of Hartford orientation.
