Living in a small town means that everyone knows everything about each other. You probably have one or two high schools and a major rivalry with the next down over that EVERYONE (even your parents) get involved in. These are the 15 things you know if you live in a small town!
This can be a good and a bad thing. Every move you make is most likely monitored by someone, so staying out of trouble is impossible. But, if you need something, you always have someone to go to.
Your friends from kindergarten are still your friends because you attended the same elementary, middle, and high school. Chances are you all choose the same college.
A small town means that there isn’t much to do other than go to the one local hangout or each other’s houses. The struggle is real.
Leaving the house? Get ready to so more than half of the people you know while you are out.
It doesn’t matter where you go, you will most definitely run into your teacher at some point. Just smile and wave.
I don’t think there has been a time that I have driven through town that I haven’t beeped at a friend or been beeped at by someone I know saying hi.
As I said before, there just isn’t anywhere to go. So, if there is a place everyone is, that becomes the hangout.
Party in the small town? That usually consists of tailgating with your parents and your friend’s parents because everyone is at the game. Picture something straight out of Friday Night Lights.
There isn’t much else to do other than get into the school spirit.
We hate the rival town.
This means actual freedom. Your license is like gold. Finally, you can get behind the wheel and leave town every now and then.
Everyone goes all out for the town fair because it is one of the most exciting things that happen around town (for the entire year).
Some call them “washed up” and chances are they really never will leave.
Never say never, am I right?
Although it is small and there is not much excitement or privacy, it is home. And sometimes there is just nothing better than home.
