The new semester’s starting, the leaves are thinking about changing colors, and it’s almost time to break out the flannels. That means it’s also time to start thinking about what autumnal things you want to do this year. To help you out, I’ve put together a list of 7 things you have to have on your fall bucket list.
Get in the school spirit and head to a football game to cheer on your team! It’s like when you went to the homecoming game in high school except you can probably drink beforehand if you’re 21 and the quarterback probably isn’t in your math class. It doesn’t have to be football, but you should totally have “Attend A Sporting Event” on your fall bucket list because it’ll get you outside, it can be a great way to spend some time with friends, and you can support your team while you do it! And you can wear a really cute outfit.
You probably spent a lot of time outside in the summer, but if you’re anything like me, you probably haven’t gotten outside as much since the fall semester began. Grab some friends and get outside. Walk into town and get coffee, stroll around campus, go looking for some pretty fall foliage- just spend some quality time outside. This might seem a little basic to put on your fall bucket list but it’s something you can easily do and if it’s on your list you’re more likely to do it!
This might be a little harder if you’re in the city, but lying in the grass bundled up in blankets and stargazing is a great way to spend an autumn night. Throw on some sweatpants, make some hot chocolate, and head out into the quad to stargaze. Or pretend to stargaze. Or do it on the roof of your apartment building (provided that’s allowed). You might find in the dark all cuddled up in blankets you have deeper conversations with your friends than you typically have.
Nothing says fall like apple picking or visiting a pumpkin patch. Take a hayride, get some autumnal fruit, maybe pet some farm animals. Imagine the cute Instagram photos you can get? Plus, you’ll have fruit you can take home with you. The autumn leaves and the general atmosphere will be a great distraction from school. This is a must have for your fall bucket list! Imagine the apple cider you’ll drink, or the hot chocolate if that’s more your style!
This is a great follow up to going to the farm! Use the apples or the pumpkin you bring home to make an autumnal desert! Think pie or turnover or cookies! There are so many possibilities. You’re sure to be the hit of your floor if you bake it in your dorm’s communal kitchen, or you can have your friends over to your apartment to help you out then reap the rewards.
Even if scary movies aren’t your style, this is a must-have for your fall bucket list. The movie doesn’t even have to be that scary! But tis the season of the spookiest holiday of the year (Halloween), so why not get in the spirit by watching something a little scarier? If you haven’t seen the classics, you should totally start with those, but you could always try something targeted at a younger audience if you’re easily frightened. This would be a lot more fun if you have friends over so you can all be scared together! Can you say movie night?
This might not be for you, but you should totally consider adding “Go To A Haunted House” to your fall bucket list! This is the perfect time of year to either hit up your local seasonal haunted house or even just tour an old mansion that’s said to be inhabited by ghosts. Grab some friends for back up and push yourself to the limits!
