Top 10 Things That Need To Happen In The Lizzie McGuire Reboot
Disney fans hold on tight because Lizzie Mcguire is getting rebooted! That’s right, Hilary Duff is done teasing the idea of us getting to see a more mature Lizzie Mcguire and she is finally making it happen. No details have really been released yet about the upcoming television show, but we do know you can only see it on Disney’s new streaming service Disney Plus. Now that the reboot has been announced we the fans can sit in wait in anticipation to see if the new show will give us everything we are looking for, or be a huge disappointment. In my humble opinion, there are a few key elements that must be brought to life in the new Lizzie McGuire show to make it a success.
1. Lizzie’s Cartoon Ages
Lizzie McGuire stood out to young girls for a lot of different reasons. She was a healthy body type, she wasn’t popular, and oh yeah her inner monologue was a hilarious cartoon character that looked just like her. Lizzie McGuire’s cartoon sidekick may have only existed in the realm of her imagination, but we did get to see her reaction to what was happening in Lizzie’s real life. Because of this, I think it is important that not only does little Lizzie return to the television series, but we also see an older more sophisticated version of the cartoon. I’m not saying she has to have gray hair and wrinkles, but Hilary Duff doesn’t exactly wear a pink crop top and blue jeans anymore either. It’s time to give both Lizzie’s a fresh new look.
2. Lizzie Finds Her Own Style
A main plot point in the Lizzie McGuire show is that Lizzie doesn’t know how to be a cool kid. She dresses wrong and can’t seem to figure out how to fit in. By the end of the series, I think we all learned that fitting in isn’t the answer and that Lizzie just needed to embrace her personal style to succeed in life. The show has been off the air for fifteen years and in the meantime, Hilary Duff has been finding her personal style too. Although the two share a lot of simularities I think it is important for Lizzie to dress differently from Hilary, even though Hilary has been killing the fashion game lately. I want to see a Lizzie McGuire that embraces her own look and style.
3. Find out what happened to Kate
I think we are all curious about what happened to most of the Lizzie McGuire cast members. Hilary Duff is really the only one who has stayed in the public’s eye. I’m sure the reboot will bring back lot’s of characters for us to reminisce about. But, Kate Sanders was Lizzie’s biggest bully and although there were plenty of moments we got to see a nice side of Kate, I still hate that bitch. Watching the Lizzie McGuire reboot will be like going to your ten-year high school reunion, it’ll only be satisfying if Kate is down in the dumps. Maybe she could turn her life around by the end of the new season, but I really want to see her struggle.
4. Singing
Remember when Hilary Duff did a duet with herself? Yeah, and it was amazing! In order for this reboot to be even a little bit successful, we definitely need to see some singing.
5. Lizzie Being Clumsy
With age comes maturity and poise, both of which I hope Lizzie has now. The show won’t be great if we see a thirty-year-old Lizzie acting like she’s fifteen. Even though I want her to have a glamorous adult life, I also still want some of those funny classic Disney channel moments. I’m not saying she needs to be tripping over herself the entire season, but one scene where she falls into the trash can couldn’t hurt.
6. Her Family
The entire McGuire clan has to be in the reboot. It’s not even that I want to see them like it can’t be a cameo, we need to see pep talks, family hugs and other great McGuire moments that we have been missing for the past 15 years.
7. See the whole gang back together
The only cast member to be signed onto the project so far is Hilary Duff, which is great and obviously important, but what about Gordo and Miranda. Both characters played such an important role in the original series that we can only hope we get to see them in the reboot. I for one will not be satisfied if the entire new season is just Hilary, even though she is hilarious and adorable.
8. Lizzie’s Career
Since the show ended before Lizzie even got into high school we don’t know much about her life once she got older, we especially know nothing about her career. Meanwhile, Hilary Duff has been riding a wave of success since the show ended. With her music, movies and staring in the show Younger, Hilary Duff has made quite the career for herself. We can only hope that Lizzie has done the same.
9. At Least 1 Matt McGuire Prank
If Lizzie McGuire is all grown up with a fancy job and a great new life, then it stands to reason that Matt McGuire would also be all grown up and be finished with his childish ways. I really hope that we get to see Matt McGuire with a family, kids and a great job, but also I want to see him prank Lizzie. Like if he could find a way to be an adult and also prank his older sister that would make this entire reboot worth it.
10. Gordo and Lizzie’s Romantic Story
When Lizzie McGuire ended I think we all had a lot of questions left unanswered. To help tie up any loose ends Disney released the Lizzie McGuire Movie, which was amazing in its own right and left the series to end on a positive note. Lizzie was going off to high school to start new adventures, she had confidence, her family and her friends by her side so nothing could stop her. Then in the final scene of the movie she goes up to the roof in Rome and kisses Gordo…What? I’m sorry but talk about a cliff hanger I’ve been waiting fifteen years to have resolved. With the reboot happening now I don’t only want to see what happened to Gordo, I want to see what happened after the kiss!
Reboots and remakes may come, and even if the Lizzie McGuire show doesn’t meet our high standards, at least we still have the old episodes to go watch.
