Being a freshman can be rough. You are in a new place with new people and I’ll be the first to admit that it takes some adjusting! However, if you are a freshman at University of Delaware I hope that you are lucky enough to be placed on East Campus. Here are a few things you’ll only get if you do live here:
Unless you are lucky enough to live in Redding or South Academy you know the struggle that I’m talking about. You never get used to the heat but it’s okay you can have fans and fall is here before you know it!
When you are trapped in the tiny oven they call your dorm you will often find yourself with your door open or wandering the halls. Odds are there are a bunch of cool people living right next to you so get out there and mingle!
Need Subway or a chaser… luckily you are no more than five minutes away from a convenience store open until 2 am. (Trust me you WILL find yourself in there at 2 am).
A five minute walk to Memorial for you is a 15 minute walk for them.
You will be sitting in Perkins drinking Dunkin’ until 12 a.m. when the janitor kicks you (definitely not speaking from experience).
Personally, I can’t say I’m a huge fan of CR or Russel but Pencader is THE WORST. BE GRATEFUL.
I already mentioned that you are close to your classes but you are also only a few minutes from Main St. and every party your senior year of high school self could have hoped for.
Since East Campus has the most freshman housing you will get the opportunity to meet hundreds of people like yourself and it actually pretty awesome.
Yup you read that right. There is a man who walk his parrot around and if you are lucky enough you might get to hold it.
You don’t say it out loud but you probably think it.
So although you may be so sweaty that it feels like you’re melting, you know that there’s no place you’d rather be.
