If your home’s in a different country and you can’t book a ticket back, have an on-campus duty, or just feel like staying on campus for winter break, you’ve come to the right place. Good news is, you’d be surprised by how much there is to do! Here are 10 ideas if you’re feeling lost or bored.
Start that exercise or diet plan, make that YouTube video, write that book NOW. And don’t push it off till after January 1 because let’s be real, that New Year’s Resolution won’t last, if it even begins at all. Start early and get into a habit before you run out of time.
…Or finish 2 or 3. I recommend Orange is the New Black, Once Upon a Time, One Tree Hill and New Girl.
It can feel a little lonely when everyone’s back home with their families. Gather a few friends for a holiday potluck where everyone brings their attempts at homemade dishes. Then you can laugh at how bad your attempts were and promptly order pizza afterwards, all while binging those Netflix shows.
Take a bus or rent a car and just drive. Let yourself get lost on your own in the city and discover some amazing things and people.
Open Pinterest and make your room picture perfect. Then you can show your mom how organized and put together your room is, all while getting multiple double taps on Insta.
The holidays are all about giving back, so sign up to volunteer at a food pantry or a homeless shelter. Show someone you care and better their lives and society in general.
Read all the books. Search up a list of books to read before you die and vow to read at least two of them. Maybe you’ll discover something new about yourself or change your perspective on life in the process.
Start that bullet journal. Revamp your resume. Update your LinkedIn. Apply for those internships. Organize your documents into a filing folder. Make a digital folder. Be that person. Make winter break useful!
I know you’ve been trying to find an excuse to stroll into that art museum, so just do it because no one’s there to judge you. Literally, no one. Take that artsy Insta photo, then go to a theatre a watch some jazz performance. End the night with a Sundance Film. Now you’re artsy af.
Let everyone back home know how much they mean to you by sending your love through the mail! And make sure it’s a physical present or letter too. It just carries a different feeling. Happy Holidays!
