These Are Some TV Shows Coming In 2021 That Might Be Worth Watching

Just when we think we’ve seen every show known to mankind on every streaming service during 2020, a fresh batch of television programs are making their way for a more promising year. Let’s face it, we don’t know how long we’ll be spending time indoors due to this pandemic, so we might as well grab some popcorn and get comfy for more storylines, action, and drama.

These are some TV shows coming in 2021 that might be worth watching.

Superman And Lois

This dynamic duo is making a return on the CW network, but with a completely different twist. This time around, the show will center on our favorite hero and our favorite journalist being parents. This type of storyline will humanize them and show them in a completely different light compared to what we’ve seen done over and over again for the past decade.

Additionally, it will connect with the other TV shows associated with the “Arrowverse,” which means we could get a potential crossover in the future. This means double the amount of action, fight scenes, and drama. Fingers crossed!

Law And Order: Organized Crime

If you’re an original fan, you’ll remember our favorite partner of Olivia Benson from one of the best TV shows—Elliott Stabler. Back when he left the “Special Victims Unit” or “SVU” for short, we were all heartbroken. Fear not, Stabler Stans! Christopher Meloni is set to reprise his famous role in a spin-off known as “Organized Crime.”

While we don’t know too many details about this, we do know that tragedy is what brings Stabler back to the small screen. This will be an interesting subplot as we can expect some fantastic character development from him and how he processes a great loss as he leads a new unit. Regardless, if Dick Wolf is behind the madness, you know I’ll be watching.

Young Rock

Moving on to some of the brighter TV shows, Dwayne Johnson is behind a new series about his own personal life on NBC. The show will chronicle everything from his teen years, to his college years, and to his amateur wrestling years.

My guess is that the show will give us an insight behind “The Rock’s” life we may not know about, and it will be awesome to see a diverse cast on a popular network. Dwayne already made the announcement on the different actors portraying him, and I have to say, they look pretty spot on already.

The Kenan Show

We love him on “Saturday Night Live” and, if you’re a true fan, he’s also an icon from “Kenan And Kel.” Now, the comedian Kenan Thompson will have his own series named after him.

Kenan portrays a father to his two young daughters, trying to find a balance between his career and his family. I expect it to be as hilarious as all of his other performances are, and it will be one of many TV shows to feature more families of color. Be prepared for some laughs and some relatable mayhem that is sure to develop here.

The Lord Of The Rings

The award-winning trilogy is returning in the form of one of fantasy’s greatest TV shows. Amazon has a five-season commitment to Lord Of The Rings and will be shot in New Zealand, which is basically called “Middle Earth” to me at this point. I’m most excited to see this since I have been a dedicated Tolkien nerd after reading the books that created the world, to begin with.

Unfortunately, our favorite fellowship may not make a return. However, we will see new storylines unfold that are said to take place before the events of Frodo’s big adventure. Fingers crossed that some of our older characters make a comeback as younger versions of themselves. A teenage Gandalf would be most interesting to see.

Monsters At Work

I don’t care how old you are. Pixar movies are the keys to hearts. I have been hoping and praying for many of our animated favorites to be made into TV shows, and it looks like I might get my wish after all. If you enjoyed “Monsters Inc.” and “Monsters University,” you are going to love the series “Monsters At Work.”

Coming to Disney+, the series will serve as a sequel for the first two hits, taking place six months later when screams were replaced by laughter for energy use. There are some new characters, sure to shake things up, and our two leads, Mike and Sully, are being played by the original voices—Billy Crystal and John Goodman. If Boo makes a return, I will be bawling my eyes out. If Randall or Waternoose return, I will be hiding under my own bed in fear.

Loki

Speaking of reprisals and Disney+, our favorite Marvel comic book character will now have his own series. With many TV shows portraying Marvel movies coming to Disney+, it’s no surprise that Loki ended up with his own storyline. In an alternate world after the events of “Avengers: End Game,” Loki uses the Tesseract to time travel and alter history, leading to a string of hectic and chaotic happenings.

Tom Hiddleston, who first brought this character to life, will be reprising his role. Although the series will only contain around six episodes, it’s a mini-series I will be sure to watch upon its release.

Impeachment: American Crime Story

After the two TV shows prior, “The People Versus O. J. Simpson” and “The Assassination Of Gianni Versace,” the colossal franchise of “American Crime Story” has a lot to live up to with its third installment. This next season centers around the impeachment of Bill Clinton for his affairs with Monica Lewinsky.

Since enough time has passed, my hope is that this show doesn’t become another “mistress bashing” event. It would be very interesting to see a humanizing perspective of Monica to see her in a different light than the “scarlet letter” she was branded with that tarnished her reputation.

I’m also interested in understanding Clinton’s motivation for jeopardizing his own reputation, status, and marriage for what turned into one of the biggest scandals in our nation’s capital. This is a show you don’t want to miss. Also, Sarah Paulson might be in the show and she’s a goddess among actors.

Do you plan on catching these TV shows in 2021? Are there others you are looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below!
