5 Theories For American Horror Story Season 8

It’s almost fall again and you know what that means! American Horror Story Time! The eighth season of the wildly popular FX show is gearing up to start and promises to have a lot of surprises in store for all of its fans. This new season, named American Horror Story Apocalypse, has been described as a crossover between American Horror Story Coven and Murder House. The pre-season promo season for this series has always been frustratingly vague, so here are 5 theories for American Horror Story Season 8!

1. Time Travel

Since Season 8 will be a crossover season, many believe a time travel aspect will be introduced into the anthology series. Most of the witches from Coven are back so some think that with their powers, they will travel through time to undo some of the occurrences that happened in Season one, Murder House. The witches from coven could go back and time and prevent the Harmon’s from even moving to Los Angeles in the first place! In the main promo for Season 8, time is running out from an hourglass. Suddenly a black and long nailed hand reaches and turns the hourglass, effectively “resetting time”. This opens the possibility Apocalypse being nonlinear and the fight being one that spans across different time periods.

2. Introducing Doppelgangers

Part of what makes American Horror Story so unique is keeping the same actors, but making them play different characters each season. The show has playfully referenced this in the latest seasons, but Season 8 could be a game changer. Due to the nature of the crossover, major characters could be introduced for the first time! Characters like Tate and Zoe, Fiona and Constance or Violet and Kyle could meet ! This could lead to an even more confusing situation within the plot. Characters could pretend to be others and help or worsen the situation in Apocalypse. This season could mark the introduction of new mythology into the series, and rewrite its history!

3. A Holy War

This season marks the return of the Antichrist. While just a baby when first introduced, Michael Langdon is all grown up in Season 8! If you have been following creator Ryan Murphy’s social media accounts, you know that all the season three witches are back– even the dead ones. Maybe Season 8 will bring a hell on earth scenario, where all of the dead characters are back and in the flesh! Who knows what kind of plot points this could bring!

4. A Hidden Big Bad

It is assumed that Michael Langdon aka the AntiChrist, son of season one’s Tate and Vivian will bring the apocalypse and reign destruction. But what if he isn’t the ultimate villain? After being introduced so casually on social media, we got to wonder if there is another secret baddie being kept under wraps. Whatever the answer is, we can’t wait to find out!

5. It All Comes Back to Jessica Lange

Not only is this a crossover season, but it is also the return of Jessica Lange! We last saw this iconic actress in American Horror Story: Freakshow as Elsa Mars. After stepping away from the series for a few years, she will make her long awaited return this fall! Details about her appearance have been vague and kept under wrap. Could it be that her character is what really drives the story throughout the seasons? Maybe she is the big bad herself? This theory is a little bit of a wildcard and kinda a stretch, but we gotta wonder… does it all boil back to Jessica?
