The Ultimate ASU Bucket List

Four years of college goes by fast! Luckily, there’s a lot to keep you busy at Arizona State University. In order to make the most of it, create a bucket list. You’ll constantly discover new things to add to it. Keep reading for must haves for your ASU bucket list!

1. Camp out at Wells Fargo Stadium.

The notorious “Camp Fargo” is where students camp outside of the Wells Fargo Stadium in order to get the best seats for games. This is a huge deal at ASU and can help you in achieving some of the most amazing seats! The fun is in the experience, so grab a couple of friends and your tent, and camp away!

2. Visit the Planetarium.

Did you know that the Tempe campus has its very own planetarium? Sometimes there are even “astronomy nights” where you can go for free and watch the stars. You can take advantage of this experience as a date idea, a get-together with friends, or simply by yourself.

3. Try Devil Aid.

When the orange trees around Tempe are in full bloom, it’s only necessary to try the delectable orange juice that ASU offers. It will keep you refreshed in the Arizona heat and energized to get to class!

4. Hike “A” Mountain.

When living in Arizona, it is essential to hike at least one mountain. Tempe Butte is located right next to the ASU campus, even branded with an “A” that boasts immense pride. Take a part in guarding it from mischievous U of A Wildcats, or simply explore it with a group of friends. Whether you hike or bike it, “A” Mountain is the perfect bucket list item for all students of Arizona State.

5. Hike the Grand Canyon.

Why stop at Tempe Butte? Now that you’re living in Arizona, you can take advantage of all its attractions. Being one of the world’s seven natural wonders, the Grand Canyon is on the bucket list of Arizona and non-Arizona residents alike. You can camp at the bottom or conquer it in a day. Whatever way you choose to hike it, it will always be a worth experience.

6. See a Gammage production.

The ASU Gammage Theater features a variety of shows its off-Broadway productions being the most popular to go to. It’s right on the Tempe campus and very accessible for all students. It gives you the opportunity to see shows like “Wicked” and “Mamma Mia!” performed right at home.

7. Find the Secret Garden.

The “secret” not-so-secret garden is one of the finest gems ASU has to offer. Students often enjoy utilizing it as a quiet spot for studying, eating lunch, or even meditating to ward off stress from finals. It is a must-see location that perhaps might even become your favorite spot on-campus.

8. Paddle around Tempe Town Lake.

If you ever find yourself bored with nothing to do on your days off school, rent a paddle boat and explore Tempe Town Lake. It is the perfect way to meditate after a long week of studying for tests and finishing monster essays.

9. Sneak into the Barrett Refectory.

The truth is, if you’re not a Barrett student, it is quite likely that your dining hall does not resemble the one from all the Harry Potter movies. Barrett’s dining hall has been affectionately coined the “Harry Potter room” and is like no other on the ASU campus. You’ll probably have an easier time getting in if you befriend Barrett students which is a win-win situation because then you might receive homework help as well.

10. Street perform at First Friday.

For all arts enthusiasts and music junkies, First Friday provides an exhilarating atmosphere that is completely free. Take the light rail downtown, or simply walk out of your housing building if you’re at the Downtown Phoenix location and you’ll find yourself in a world of new sights and sounds. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, scout out an empty area to show off your dance moves or musical stylings.

11. Wear shorts in the winter.

For all those non-Arizona residents, you finally have the chance to show off your calves all-year-round. The winters are snow-free and breezy which make it easy for you to put on a light sweater and a pair of your favorite shorts. It’s something you’ve always dreamed of since you had to start shoveling snow, and it can be done right here on your own campus.

12. Play Oozeball!

Mud and volleyball? Yes please. Join fellow ASU students for a game of “Oozeball”, a twist on volleyball that involves getting down and dirty. You can always watch, but the fun is in participating! This is a must-do activity for your ASU bucket list, especially for the common intramural lover!

13. Take an awesome class.

Arizona State University offers a wide range of unique classes ranging from Bee Biology to The Beatles. When it comes to choosing which courses you take, the sky’s the limit. If you’re interested in taking “Dog Behavior” as an elective, you can do it. You’re only in college for so long, so why not make the most of it by joining an elective outside of your comfort zone?

14. Attend an ASU vs U of A game.

Everyone knows that U of A is Arizona State’s biggest rival. That being said, it’s only imperative during your time at ASU that you attend the most important game of the seasons: ASU against U of A. You will not be sorry as you cheer on your fellow Sun Devils and show off your school pride.
