Yes, all of us have been dreaming of a vacation way before quarantine started. Some of us even planned to go on vacation right when began to quarantine, but right now it is safer to simply think of places you’d love to visit than to actually be there. When the world is officially safe enough to travel, we can start making our way to places we always wanted to venture to. Here’s some of the top places you need to travel to once quarantine lifts!
You may have heard that Austin is a popular, growing city and a great place to move too and that’s for many reasons. Home to incredible southern food, and music – Austin might as well have it all. Not only do they have the best weather for the summer, real pulled pork sandwiches, and amazing street tacos, Magnolia Cafe, Tex mex, cowboy boots – you know, a lot of great things – but, Austin also has a perfect mix of city and country (at least outdoorsy stuff) in one place. This means you can find cute shops, bakeries, clothing stores in the Domain Northside, all the bars on sixth street, attend Austin City Limits or SXSW festival if one is happening when you’re visiting, go to a local vendor and buy handcrafted jewelry, and also go to Barton Springs. There’s a lot to do, there’s a lot to eat. And, Austin has also been noted as one of the best cities to live in. In comparison to many major cities like Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago – Austin is more affordable, provides more than year round good weather; and there’s music in the atmosphere (quite literally) as the city is filled with rocking musicians that can easily bring some good vibes to a city.
If you’re planning to go to Europe one day, add Madrid to your list of places to see. There is no doubt why Madrid seems to really have it all when thinking of places to visit. With a major downtown area, Puerta de Sol, is the center of Madrid’s restaurants, shops, European clothing stores that you can’t find in the United States, rooftop bars, authentic tapas, street art, and clubs to say the least. Flea markets, paella, nightlife, Gran Vía are all a part of Madrid’s amazing food and culture. Visit in the winter and see people gather together to watch the tree lighting in Sol. Travel outside of the city to see Madrid’s outlining country side and discover more history about Spain’s culture. Stop at a coffee shop like Uvepan to try a taste of Spanish coffee. Madrid is just one of the best cities to be in the country of Spain, and is worth every minute of traveling to.
Aside from Madrid and Austin, Seattle is another top favorite for places to travel to. You may hear it rains all the time, but go see the weather for yourself. There’s much more to Seattle and the places that surround it than just the famous Space Needle. Seattle is a must see, and it seems to be the center of the Pacific Northwest’s cities aside from Portland, Oregon, and with good reason. Downtown Seattle has the Public Market, which is home to quality fish and seafood, shops with unique finds, pop up vendors (like kombucha stands), and is just a short walk away from a scenic view with a mix of water and mountains. Also, if you are a fan of Starbucks, you know the original Starbucks is there. Seattle has tons of chain clothing stores, but also West Coast stores and restaurants you will not be able to find in another part of the country, even a gum wall. Like Austin, Seattle is home to a ton of music made in the 90’s. If you have the chance to travel outside of Seattle when visiting there, Mount Rainier National Park is a must see for outdoorsy folks who enjoy a hike, or those who can just really appreciate nature and beautiful views. If you can deal with a little Washington traffic, Tacoma is another city worth seeing during a trip to Washington (not to mention the drive from Seattle to there is gorgeous with the views of mountains from the highway). It has a feel of a college town in certain parts, while also giving you another part of Washington’s city life without the crowds of Seattle.
What would we do without California’s beauty? I mean, the state has everything – mountains, ocean, and the city. California has a ton of beautiful cities – there’s no doubt about it. But, San Francisco is up there when it comes to cities worth seeing on a trip to CA. Home to the 49ers, sea lions and much more, San Fran gives us great food of all cuisines (such as the rooftop restaurant El Techo in the Mission District) and Ristorante Milano (amazing Italian food). It also gives us art and music like no other place. Haight and Ashbury has the Grateful Dead house, Jimi Hendrix house and thrift stores and bars that are so cool you will feel like you are in the 70’s. SF gives us day trips, like to see the sea lions at on Pier 39, Alcatraz, Berkeley, or even travel really outside of the city to see the redwoods at the Muir Woods National Monument. Check out the views of the Golden Gate Bridge from some of the most scenic areas in San Francisco, like Marin Headlands, and make sure to see the house from Full House, as well as The Painted Ladies. There’s so much to do, and a lot of beautiful sunsets to catch that it makes San Francisco 100% worth traveling to once quarantine lifts.
