The Pros And Cons Of Dating In 2018

Welcome to dating in 2018, were the idea of romance is swiping right and giving the good old thumbs up to a filtered picture.  The idea of flattery is now uploading a selfie and receiving likes, have we all gone mad? It’s as though a real life compliment is not enough anymore. “Did you say I’m looking good? Thanks, can you just post that comment to my Facebook wall and make it official?”

We don’t talk to each other anymore, gone are the days of being approached in the street, it’s almost as though people are scared to talk to one another, unless of course there steaming drunk in a nightclub, not the best way to go about pulling.  Ok sure a few shots of Tequila can boost the confidence levels and it’s not always a disaster, but I’m sure we’ve all experienced beer goggles at some stage in our lives. You think you’ve pulled Tom Hardy, then in reality you wake up and realise that he’s more like is Mr Bean.

Tinder has forced people into a brand new way of dating. People are now advertising themselves online like they are a pair of shoes just gone on Sale, but is that not slightly degrading? Are we this desperate to find love? Let’s face it, it’s not often you find a good item on the sale rack. People are trying to force relationships, so eager to find a soul mate and others are basically using it like and escorting service. Each to their own, but is this really how the dating world should be?

Pro: The internet brings people together.

It’s a big world out there and Finding Mr right could be like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

Con: Tinder and other forms of Social Media play a big part in the destruction of relationships.

How many couples have argued over petty things they have noticed on the internet? Who is this guy that seems to be taking a liking to your profile pictures?  Why is Jenny tagging you in pictures captioned “Me and Bae”? A lot of the time these are harmless posts, but we all know how much chaos can be caused through things such as Facebook, or Snap Chat. How many have you have received an unwanted picture that has caused all hell to break loose? Nobody asked for a picture of Gary’s private parts, but we still suffer

Pro: The other great thing about online dating is that we can cut straight to the point.

If he doesn’t rock your boat, then he’s going overboard.

Con: The con is that using the internet to date eliminates a “love at first sight” physical connection.

Physical connection is needed!

Pro: Tinder is the build a bear of dating.

Its features basically let you pick your ideal man (on paper.)

Con: Can you really judge a person solely on their looks?

He might be six foot tall with a smile like Ashton Kutcher, but does that really matter if this person has the personality of a wasp?

I’m not quite sure that I’m a fan of internet dating, being an old fashioned romantic, but what are your thoughts? Do you swipe right or left to dating in 2018?
