The Pros And Cons Of Being The Brutally Honest Friend

Being an honest friend can be an important part of a friendship. However, there are lots of pros and cons that come with being brutally honest!

Honesty is needed in any relationship, whether it’s a friendship or romantic relationship it’s important to be honest. Have you ever seen a group of friends go out partying and notice the one friend who looks a hot mess? That one friend needs to reevaluate their friend group. Anyone looking to become my friend is warned about my honesty. I prefer being the brutally honest friend because it’s better to tell the truth than talk shit behind your back. A lot of people may be afraid to speak up to their friends because they want to be likeable. I personally think being real is better than being fake. If you plan on being fake throughout your relationship, there will be a time where you’ll be exposed! It’s time to be honest and speak the truth! It’s better to be slapped with the truth than kissed with a lie! If you’re weary about being the brutally honest friend, don’t worry I have the gems of why being the honest friend is lit! Here are the pros and cons to being the brutally honest friend!

1. Your Friends Will Appreciate You

Being the “real” friend gives you the opportunity to gain trust from friends and acquaintances. If your friend is wearing an outfit that doesn’t suit them, just tell them the truth. Making them change their outfits will make them realize you’re being honest but want the best for them. Our friends represent us as a whole, if they’re looking or acting a mess it could interpret to you being a mess to others. This is one pro to being brutally honest friend.

2. Anything You Say Will Be Authentic

Being brutally honest means any compliments or advice you give to others will show them that you truly care! Authenticity is important in any relationship because lying and being fake will mess with someone’s emotions and mental health. Imagine spending years with a person and finding out everything they’ve told you were lies.

3. It Will Make You More Aware Of Fake People

People who are brutally honest are aware as fuck.We know when someone is serving us straight bullshit. It gives us the opportunity to let our friends know if others aren’t feeling them. You’ll be more aware to if you’re getting scammed or a potential rejection from a person and a career opportunity.

1. Your Delivery May Affect Your Relationship

Tonality makes an impact in any conversation. Depending on your voice, delivering an honest message to a friend may cause issues in the relationship. If you tend to speak in a monotone voice, it’s important to add some flair into your voice depending on the message topic. If you’re about to tell a  friend they’re partner is cheating, its best to use a serious tone! If your tone does not match the message, your friend will begin to over think.

2. People Will Think You’re A Hater

This is a major fact! I have friends who think I’m hating because I won’t boost their ego. No honey, I’m letting you know the truth because everyone is afraid of being honest with you! This can be relatable for those who are opinionated because people are afraid of not being likeable. Would you make a fool out of yourself in public or have a friend there to prevent you from making major mistakes? I appreciate all my brutally honest friends because I know its coming out of love.

3. You’ll Have A Harder Time Making Friends

Anyone who wants to be my friend must realize, I don’t sugar coat anything. They claim to be about being fed honesty, than realize it won’t workout because I’m not feeding them lies. Having at least 3 friends is enough to survive in this world. If someone walks out of your life because you’re being real and not kissing their ass, then they were never your friend. Don’t forget Beyonce said “Me, myself, and I, that’s all I got in the end. That’s what I found out and it ain’t no need to cry. I took a vow that from now on, I’m going to my own best friend”. Be your own best friend because at the end of the day, you always have to be there for yourself!
