The Pros and Cons of a Summer Fling

With summer heat comes hot passion—it’s just irresistible. Everyone has got their eye on somebody over the summer. Whether you’re considering a fling with a hot guy from your hometown or if you’ve been checking somebody out at work, keep these summer dating tips in mind! A hot summer fling could be just the thing for you, or it could be the absolute last thing you want, it all depends on what you’re looking for.

Summer flings are easy.

Without the complications of serious commitment in the picture, it’s easier to not have to worry about letting the other person down or always being present for them. You don’t have to worry about having any long, serious talks. If you want something that is fun and light-hearted, then a fling is perfect.

No hard feelings.

As you’ll both be going into your summer fling without any expectations you’ll just be able to enjoy each other’s company while the summer lasts. You both know that once summer winds down and it’s time to head back to school that it will be over—there’s a time limit on your relationship. It’s easier to walk away and know that no one’s getting their heart broken. If the person you’re seeing happens to get more attached then planned, that’s not your fault!

Get some “experience.”

A summer fling is the perfect time to work on your hook-up skills. Since the two of you are just together to have a good time, hooking up should be fun and relaxing. Once you’re back at school, you’ll have gotten some extra practice for all those college cuties that are returning all sexy and tanned from the summer.

Friendship.

Who says you can’t still keep in touch after you break off your summer fling. As long as you both know that nothing is going to come of it, and there’s no tension between the two of you, you should both feel free to be friendly with each other. It’s always nice to have a long distance friend or someone to come home to hang out with during school breaks.

Low-key dates.

There’s no pressure of having to come up with fancy dates. Just the two of you can hang out or do something with a group of friends without the pressure of nice dinners or having to meet the parents.

Close connections.

If you like getting to know and form a connection with the person you’re hooking up with, then a fling isn’t for you. You don’t have as much time together as you normally would at school and the other person is most likely in it just to have a good time. You won’t be getting the meaningful moments and heart to hearts that you crave out of a summer fling.

Catching the feels.

There’s always the chance that one of you gets more attached than the other person. These situations can make things harder to end, often with an ugly breakup or hurt feelings. Even though you go into something with the expectation that it’s only a fling and there are no real feelings involved, this isn’t always the case in the end. When sex is involved it’s extremely hard not to get feelings; especially if you’re spending a lot of time together. So, be careful!

Becoming bored.

There’s a serious potential that your summer flame just burns out. If you’re not emotionally attached to someone, you may get bored with them by mid-July because you’re spending so much time together, but only as a “fling.”
