The 15 Must-Have Clothes To Bring To College
Dorm rooms are small, and the space for clothes is even smaller; however, no matter how tightly packed your clothes are, you’ll want to shove a little harder to fit these must-have clothes to bring to college! Chances are, you won’t be needing the rest of your wardrobe anyways.
1. Your best spirit attire
You can’t go to an exciting football game or the greatest tailgate without your best school spirit attire. Whether it is a classy t-shirt or a fun cheerleader skirt and crop top, supporting your school is what it is all about.

2. Your favorite pair of leggings
Leggings are one of the perfect clothes to bring to college no matter if it is warm, cold, raining, snowing, or sunny, and nothing beats how they go with everything. You can wear your cute little booties and fall vest or your boyfriends big sweatshirt, and all of it is perfect with a pair of leggings.

3. A trendy party outfit
You might go out all the time and this will come in handy more often, or it might be your style to have a movie night in your dorm. No matter if you are using it regularly or very rarely, it never hurts to have something you feel confident and pretty in, and if you’re invited to a social, you’ll definitely be ready.

4. A variety of coats
It doesn’t apply to all schools, but in the state of Michigan, your heaviest winter coat is a must when talking about clothes to bring to college. When you’re walking across campus in the blizzard and you can barely feel your nose, you’ll be thankful you have your giant coat. But, it might also be rainy and windy, and you’re going to need a raincoat because an umbrella just won’t cut it.

5. Simple tops
With limited space for clothing, basic tops are important. These shirts can be worn on their own, or used in layers making them essential to a variety of different outfits. Blacks, grays, whites, and even colors like blush pink and army green are perfect because they go with almost everything.

6. A business outfit
You never know when you are required to go to a career fair or when you’ll have your big job interview, so it is always a good idea to be prepared. Bring dress pants or a pencil skirt and a nice button up shirt.

7. A good pair of athletic shoes
Maybe as you start to put on your freshman fifteen from the unlimited dining hall food (or other things ;)) you’ll decide to work out. In that case, you’ll need to pull out those athletic shoes that are still white sitting in the back of your closet.

8. A cardigan
Cardigans make for easy, cute outfits. Whether you prefer a long warm cardigan or a thin one to complete the outfit, bringing one is a must! With the small space for clothing, it is important to bring the essentials that are versatile.

9. A couple of dress options
Everyone needs their LBD and a couple other options. This could be for your sorority recruitment, a fun night out, or your formal. Many students order dresses from Lulu*s, but cheaper options could be bought at Charlotte Russe; however, it would be easier if you already came with a few.

10. Body glitter
This isn’t quite a piece of clothing, but I promise that you’ll use it. If you don’t bring body glitter, you’ll be the girl scrambling texting the floor group chat right before the party asking if anyone has some to spare. Pro tip: chapstick works as a great body glue if you are that girl.

11. Multiple pairs of jeans
I feel like we’re often told that people wear only leggings in college, but that isn’t necessarily true. Many students wear jeans all the time, and it’s important to have a few pairs. I prefer dark washed, ripped jeans, but it is fun to show your personal style.

12. Your comfiest sweatshirt
It’s important to feel comfortable while you’re stressing about exams. You might prefer a trendy sweatshirt from Pacsun, but sometimes you’ll need a big hoodie to keep you warm.

13. The fuzziest socks you own
These go hand in hand with slippers, except fuzzy socks can go in your boots as you head to class or games, as well. Wear these to keep your feet warm and off the sketchy floors of the halls and dorms.

14. Cute bra and panty set
It is important to feel confident going into an exam or taking on a night out, and the perfect bra and panty set can help you do this. Even if no one else sees it, you can start your day feeling cute and confident. Definitely one of the best clothes to bring to college.

15. Winter boots
In Michigan, winter hits quickly and fiercely. As you trudge through the snow to get to class, you will be incredibly happy to have a pair of winter boots.
