The Halloween Movie You Should Watch Based On Your Zodiac Sign
One of the best parts about the spooky season is the hundreds of Halloween movies that come with that! Every year it seems like 20 new Halloween movies come out, making the list a never-ending scroll. With so many Halloween movies and horror movie continually coming out, how is it possible to decide which one to watch? To help you narrow down your search and watch a Halloween movie, you’re guaranteed to love, follow your zodiac! Has it ever done you dirty before?
Aries: American Psycho (2000)
As an Aries, you’ve probably heard that you’re one of the most, if not the most driven, powerful, and most successful of all the signs. With that, however, often comes overwhelming and unshakable confidence, and you may believe that it’s your way or the highway. Therefore, it would only make sense that you watch American Psycho this Halloween.
Even though Patrick Bateman was born in October making him a Libra, he definitely has some Aries fire in him as he is a textbook parody of an Aries… the more extreme qualities of an Aries, anyway. Patrick is very into himself and seems to overcompensate for his insecurities by buying expensive clothing and taking great care of his physical appearance. Just like an Aries, Patrick often throws temper tantrums when things don’t go his way, and he tends to be very moody. But don’t worry Aries, this is a parody, not your reality! The only thing genuinely accurate is how good you look in a business-casual outfit, just saying.
Taurus: The Addams Family Values (1993)
Who doesn’t like the finer things in life? You sure do, Taurus, which is why The Addams Family Values is the ideal Halloween movie for you to watch this year! In The Addams Family Values, Uncle Fester falls for gold-digging Debbie, who is a Taurus… probably. Of course, you would never go to the extremes that Debbie goes for a nice evening, but that’s what makes this movie so funny!
While you might work hard for your luxury, Debbie just marries and murders to get her late husband’s money. I guess you can argue this is a lot of work, especially when her scheming doesn’t do a thing to poor Fester who is absolutely clueless. This movie is also great for you, Taurus because you love love, just like Gomez. Gomez is a true romantic, and I am still looking for someone to call me “Paloma” (yes, I am well aware that it means “pigeon”). Gomez worships the group Morticia walks on, and you deserve a Gomez too, Taurus!
Gemini: The Shining (1980)
All work and no play makes a Gemini a dull sign, isn’t that right? The perfect Halloween movie for a Gemini is a no brainer if you ask me: The Shining. Not only does this movie have your symbol in it as two of the most iconic twins in movie history, but Jack is probably a Gemini if we had to guess. Gemini’s are notorious for being energetic, smart, restless, and curious. Geminis also despise repetition and routine as they usually grow bored quickly. As a Gemini, you would make a fantastic writer and guess what? Jack Torrance is all of these things.
When the Torrance family moves into the Overlook Hotel for the winter to be caretakers, Jack decides to spend this quiet time writing. The family quickly hears about the previous caretakers who apparently went insane from cabin fever and killed his family and that the hotel has a dark reputation and past.
As the months go by, Jack struggles with his writing and begins to act strangely. You may have heard the line “All work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy,” which is from this movie. Without giving away the whole movie, it’s pretty easy to see that Jack is a textbook Gemini and goes a little crazy when he grows bored… sound familiar, Gemini?
Cancer: Monster House (2006)
Monster House is one of those movies everyone loves but also forgets about. This Halloween, Cancer, bring this movie back and fall in love with it all over again! Cancers are known to be the sign of the home, which makes this movie perfect as it is about a real haunted house. This movie is about 3 kids who are determined to get to the bottom of the house across the street. After it’s owner suffers from an apparent heart attack, the kids begin to experience strange happenings that all revolve around the house: phone calls, missing people and missing belonging. With Halloween quickly approaching, they need to figure out the mystery of the house before the whole neighborhood is in danger.
Without giving too much away, the characters that are involved with the house are almost definitely Cancers. Mr. Horace Nebbercracker, the house’s elderly neighbor, is most definitely a homebody and is very misunderstood, just like you, Cancer! You can sometimes be challenging to read, but your intentions are good! You are also incredibly loyal and devoted to those you love, no matter who… or what… they are. And, just like the house, you tend to dislike strangers and can feel jealous and inadequate when a threat is near.
Leo: Pet Sematary (1989/2019)
To be honest, Leo, how could your go-to Halloween movie be anything but a film with the most famous cat in film history? This Halloween, Leo, it might be wise to visit your feline friend, Church, and watch Pet Sematary. Stephen King is the master of Halloween movies, and this one is perfect for the spooky season!
Depending on which version of the film you watch, the stories are quite different. The original movie from 1989, however, is more accurate to the book if that is a concern you have! But since they are different, why not watch them both? The basic premise of this story is that there is a cemetery for pets that the kids in rural Maine created as a place to say goodbye to their pets. But because this is a Stephen King story, you know it can’t be that simple or sweet.
**SMALL SPOILER ALERT**
When the Creed family moves into this small town, the family cat is killed by a car. But instead of burying the cat normally, Louis Creed is introduced to a cemetery just beyond the Pet Sematary that supposedly brings the dead back.
**END OF SPOILER**
Many dark and tragic events unfold, and the Creed family is forced to learn that sometimes, dead is better.
Virgo: Scooby-Doo (2002/2004)
As a Virgo, you are, by far, the most logical sign. Virgos want the facts and will not make any decisions or form any opinions before hearing the facts. You like to question what you are told, which is honestly something everyone should be doing more of! Virgos want to know the truth, simple as that. If there’s anything that doesn’t make sense or line up, they will instantly pick up on it and do what they can to uncover the truth. Therefore, a Virgo would make an excellent 6th member of Mystery Incorporated!
This Halloween, make the Scooby-Doo films a top movie priority! Just like the members of Mystery Inc., you are not fooled by the smoke and mirrors! Instead, you focus on the logic and want to learn the truth behind any case. You are incredibly hardworking, analytical, and logical, which is needed when solving a tricky mystery. Of course, Shaggy and Scooby aren’t very Virgo in these ways, but they are hypochondriacs which are something Virgos are notorious for being!
Libra: Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Libras are known for keeping peace and balance in life. Without them, the world would be very one-sided and frankly, rather dull. Libras also prize beauty in all its forms, whether it be art or music they find the beauty in everything. A Libra’s artistic eye makes them highly imaginative and creative, and they always want to achieve the best. Unfortunately, though, because of this, Libras often feel like they have a missing piece or never feel fully satisfied because they are looking for something that isn’t meant to be there!
For these reasons, the perfect Halloween movie for you to watch, Libra, is The Nightmare Before Christmas! Imagine living in a world where it was one day over and over again… there’d be no balance! While we might wish it could be Christmas or Halloween every day, having the same day every day would grow dull.
This is the case in Halloween Town, where every day is Halloween or at least in preparation for Halloween. Eventually, Jack grows bored of the same old routine and begins to long for something different. When Jack visits Christmastown, Jack has a huge appreciation for the beauty the town has to offer and wants to participate. As an added bonus, Libras have a fondness for music and, lucky for you, Libra, this film is a musical! And a great musical at that.
Scorpio: Misery (1990)
Annie Wilkes is the woman your parents warned you about when they told you not to talk to strangers or to be careful what you post online. And, just like Patrick Bateman and Aries, Annie is a textbook extreme of a Scorpio, making Misery the perfect Halloween movie to watch this year! While this film is older, it totally holds up, has phenomenal actors, and is intensely creepy… as if we would expect anything less from a movie based on a Stephen King novel.
Misery tells the story of a writer named Paul Sheldon who had written very popular books featuring a character named Misery Chastain… try growing up with that name. But just like most writers, Paul wants to move away from the Misery novels and focus on more serious pieces. While traveling home from Colorado to New York, Paul is caught in a blizzard and gets in a horrible car accident. And wouldn’t you believe it, Paul’s number one fan, Annie, just so happens to be the one to rescue him. Finding out Paul will be retiring Misery Chastain, Annie is obviously furious and decides to show him her disgust by holding him hostage.
There’s a lot of things one could say about Annie, but she is, most notably, a jealous woman with a short temper and goes through extreme mood swings. One minute she’ll be feeding you soup and the next she’s throwing it in your face. Annie can be lovely and charming when she wants to be, but when things don’t go her way, she’ll let it be known. Annie is also quite manipulative, cunning, and perceptive… sound familiar, Scorpio? But really, all Annie wants is to be loved and if she isn’t, she’ll hold onto that, just like a Scorpio ready to sting.
Sagittarius: As Above, So Below (2014)
We all have that one Sagittarius friend who somehow convinces everyone else to go on crazy adventures with them and even if you say you don’t want to, they’ll go alone. That’s why the perfect Halloween movie for you, Sagi, is As Above, So Below.
As Above, So Below is like National Treasure on steroid and is perfect for the wanderlust in you! This film tells the story of tomb raider Scarlett Marlowe and her quest to finish her deceased father’s search for the philosopher’s stone. The film is presented as found footage, making it feel like you’re with the actors in the movie traveling through the Catacombs of Paris. But don’t worry, the footage isn’t too shaky or distracting, making it an enjoyable experience that just adds to the creepiness! As if the catacombs weren’t scary enough, the bizarre things that happen underground are haunting and will make you question if your adventures should be reconsidered.
Capricorn: Final Destination Series (2000-2011)
I will be the first to admit that the Final Destination movies are my guilty pleasure. No, they aren’t the best movies by any stretch, but there’s something about them that will make you watch all five films in one night. Trust me, you’ll start with one then look up 8 hours later, realize you just binged the whole series, and wonder what happened to the time. The Final Destination Effect is a strange one because even though they aren’t great movies, they consistently get 90% scores by Google users… that’s incredibly high. So lucky you, Capricorn! You are about to become apart of The Final Destination Effect! And here’s why…
As a Capricorn, you tend to be very practical, ambitious, and determined. You also have a very dry sense of humor that can also be quite dark, making these movies perfect for you. Even though the movies aren’t great, there’s a reason they have such a cult following! Some people find that the ways people die in these films are ridiculous while others will refuse to get on a rollercoaster for the next 10 years… like me.
Because you are so practical, your reaction can go either way, which makes this an interesting experience. These movies also have a dark comedy element to them that you will love, Capricorn! But the real reason this movie is the perfect Halloween movie for you is that Capricorns are known for falling victim to catastrophic expectations. Meaning if something terrible can happen, it probably will happen. No matter what the situation is, if it’s even remotely possible, it will happen to you. Sorry to ruin the dentist for you, Capricorn…
Aquarius: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Aquariuses are known for being the kindest of the zodiac signs because they are the most accepting and least judgemental people out there. The forward-thinking nature of an Aquarius tends to give them the title of “wacky” or “unique,” but really they just love individuals, no matter who… or who… you might be!
For this very reason, the perfect Halloween movie for an Aquarius is E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. E.T. is a classic Halloween movie that everyone loves, and it has the cutest little alien that has ever walked this earth! If I had to guess, I would say that Elliot is probably an Aquarius because of his incredibly accepting and progressive nature. Elliot is not afraid of E.T. and wants to help him get back to his home. He does not fear E.T. or judge what he is. And if any sign is going to believe in aliens, it’s going to be Aquarius. Hell, they’d probably offer them their guest bedroom and tell them to make themselves at home!
Pisces: The Conjuring (2013)
And last but not least, Pisces is the low-key sign of Halloween right behind Scorpios! Pisces is said to be the closest sign to the spiritual world. Pisces are very intuitive, receptive, mysterious, and mystical. Pisces are often clairvoyant and have ESP or a sixth sense meaning they can see what others cannot. For these very reasons, The Conjuring would make the perfect Halloween movie for a Pisces!
The Conjuring tells the story of a family being haunted by something in their house. Feeling they have no other options, they contact renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren to help them and put an end to the haunting. The Conjuring is based on actual events, and Ed and Lorraine Warren are real demonologists. Lorraine is said to be clairvoyant and can see the things others cannot, and if she were a sign, she would definitely be Pisces. Since you connect so heavily with Lorraine, Pisces, you can go beyond The Conjuring and venture into what is called The Conjuring Universe and watch the other films including The Conjuring 2, Annabelle, and The Nun.
