The False Eyelash Style To Try Based On Your Eye Shape
Many people, when asked what their favorite feature about themselves is, will answer with their eyes. No matter what color eyes you have, they’re all beautiful and unique! The same goes for the eye shape that you have.

Whether you’re going for a stand-out moment or just want a little extra somethin’, false lashes will get the job done. These days, there are hundreds of different lash styles, so where do you begin? What will look best on you? Well, start with your eye shape!
Finding Your Eye Shape
To find your eye shape, look directly into a mirror and imagine a straight line going horizontally across your face through the pupils, just above the inner corner of the eye. This will help determine if you have straight eyes, downturned eyes, or upturned eyes. If imagining this is too difficult, take a quick selfie then go to edit and markup. There, you can draw a straight line through your eyes!
To determine if you have deep-set or protruding eyes, you’ll have to look at your profile! If you have deep-set eyes, you will have a strong brow bone all the way across your eyelid. However, unlike hooded lids, there is no “overhang” of skin on the outer third of the eye. Instead, the eyes sit further back in the skull and are “hooded” by the skull instead of the skin.
Protruding eyes are the opposite of deep-set eyes in that they appear to be in front of the skull. Prominent eyes will usually have a crease under the eye or will often be called large or round. Prominent eyes will also often have a definite crease, unlike other eye shapes.
Now that you have a basic understanding of eye shapes, here’s the eyelash style you should try!
Deep Set Eyes
As mentioned above, deep-set eyes tend to sit below the brow bone and are further back in the skull. The brow bone tends to be more prominent and can “hood” the eyes, making it difficult to determine if you have hooded eyes or deep-set eyes.
As a rule of thumb, if your eyelids are not hooded by a flap of skin in the outer third of the eyes, you probably have deep-set eyes. Celebrities with deep-set eyes include Emma Watson, Jeffree Star, Kristen Stewart, Kiera Knightly, and Cameron Diaz.
To accentuate your eyes, pick a false eyelash style that is a bit longer and wispier that has a curl to enhance your shape! If you have deep-set eyes, a false eyelash style with lots of volume will create the illusion that your eyes are coming forward instead of sinking back. Picking a style that is longer in the center will bring the eyes forward, as well!

Hooded Eyes
Similarly to deep-set eyes, it is sometimes difficult to see the eyelid with hooded eyes when your eyes are open. While deep-set eyes and hooded eyes are often mistaken for one another, they are very different! If you have hooded eyes, the skin from your brow bone will cover the outer third of your eye. Celebrities with hooded eyes include Jennifer Lawrence, Blake Lively, Emma Stone, Taylor Swift, and Kylie Jenner.
For your particular eye shape, the best false eyelash style to try is one that has a lot of length, and that is the most extended length at the center to open the eyes up. Avoid straight lashes at all costs and, instead, opt for a wispy pair that crisscrosses.

Almond Eyes
If you have almond eyes, you will notice that your iris is partially hidden by the upper and lower lid. If you have almond eyes, lucky you! Almond eyes are incredibly versatile, and you can pull off almost any false eyelash style. In fact, many eyelash styles are designed to make the eyes look more almond! Celebrities with almond eyes include Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Angelina Jolie, and Margot Robbie.
Even though you can rock any style, a false eyelash style with lots of volume and drama can really enhance and accentuate your gorgeous eyes!

Downturned Eyes
You’ll be able to tell if you have downturned eyes if the outer corners tilt downward. People with downturned eyes tend to look very sultry and mysterious… very old Hollywood. Celebrities who have downturned eyes include Anne Hathaway, Marilyn Monroe, Camilla Belle, and Katy Perry.
If you have downturned eyes, try to avoid dense, dramatic false eyelash styles as they can drag the eyes down and look overwhelming on the eyes. A false eyelash style that would really compliment your eye shape is lashes that create a cat-eye effect by flaring out at the outer corner. Lashes that have a spikey effect will also do wonders for balancing out your gorgeous eyes!

If you have upturned eyes, you are always rockin’ a cat eye! While some people wear false eyelashes to get a feline eye, you already have them! Some of your feline sisters include Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Taylor Swift, Emma Stone, and Bella Thorn.
To highlight your gorgeous cat eyes, look for a dramatic cat-eye false eyelash style! These styles have the most volume on the outer corner and should be thick and full! For upturned eyes, you can even opt for a half-lash, so you don’t have to wear a heavy lash all day!

Mono-Lids
If you have mono-lids, you may notice that you don’t have much of an eyelid crease or one at all. If you have mono-lids, you most likely don’t have a prominent brow bone, so you’re eyes are not deep set! Celebrities who also have a mono-lid are Sandra Oh, Constance Wu, Eva Chen, and Awkwafina.
If you have mono-lids, opt for a fluttery pair of lashes that have a curl and are wispier than they are dense. Mono-lids look fabulous with topheavy, multilayered lashes as they will really enhance your natural beauty!

Prominent or Protruding Eyes
If you have protruding eyes, you’ve probably heard that you have large eyes or doe eyes. Protruding eyes are often very expressive and very prominent on the face. You know if you have prominent eyes if you have a “second crease” under the eye. Celebrities who also have prominent eyes include Mila Kunis, Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sarah Hyland, and Nicole Richie.
If you have prominent eyes, opt for a lash that is more feathery and separated than dense and voluminous as those can overwhelm your eyes. Because your eyes are a standout feature, look for a more natural false eyelash style with a cat-eye effect or a style that is longer in the middle and has curl.
