Has it ever happened to you that you got a great outfit and an amazing location, but you just don’t know how to pose? Or worse you take hundreds of photographs and don’t like any of them because you just look too awkward? If you answer is yes, we got you covered! Because trust us when we say it has happened to all of us!
Posing for photographs it’s sometimes a strange feeling, some people feel silly or too exposed, even models and that’s a big say taking into account that is the job they have chosen. Posing is a true art you can now master with this guide of do’s and don’ts to get all those Instagram worthy photographs! Follow this guide and the most difficult task you will have now is choosing which picture you should upload, because you will look amazing in them all!
When taking a picture avoid tilting your head forward so your gaze won’t turn heavy. Instead, try to put your chin forward even if it feels a bit unnatural but it will make your neck look slimmer and more elegant. Always remember to show your neck on pictures to make yourself less awkward! Try also to soften your gaze or as Tyra Bank’s says, speak with your eyes!
When you are taking a photograph in which you are sitting avoid being face forward to the camera because it will make your silhouette look bulky. The wrong sitting angle in photographs can make your legs and arms look shorter. Instead try sitting in a more lateral angle, a little away from the camera, with your legs one a little more above the other so they don’t blend together.
When you are trying a sitting pose you tend to wonder what to do with your arms. Crossed arms is usually a pose we try, but this only makes us look unnatural. Is better if you try an hourglass kind of shape, placing one leg over the other and both elbows on your knees. This will make the illusion of more elegant lines that highlight your face and figure.
Avoid stiff poses on photographs! Instead, try combining curved and straight lines with your body. Stand semi-profile to the camera with one hand on your waist or bent over your head. The correct angles will help you emphasize parts of your figure and create an elegant impression of it.
Take into consideration the clothing you are wearing. Baggy clothes make you figure irregular and difficult to discern, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still pose with it. To remedy baggy clothes outfits you can change the angles you create with your arms or legs to emphasize different parts of your body, keeping your outfit on point and photographs at its best!
Either is a beauty shoot or a complete body picture, emphasizing your face will always bring great naturally to your photographs! Don’t clench your hand in a fist and prop your head up as if you were thinking because that will only make an unflattering shoot. Instead try to extend your fingers below your chin, or to touch your face lightly. This will help your hand look more relaxed and therefore it will look like a more natural position.
