Celebrities are often very entitled and spoiled. Some believe they should be treated better than the average person. Many celebs demand ridiculous things before they even consider preforming or working on a new project. Here are some of the craziest demands made by celebrities.
Van Halen’s 1982 World Tour Demands
Rock stars have a reputation for making outrageous demands before going on stage. If they are not destroying hotel rooms, they are demanding absurd things for their dressing rooms. Van Halen’s requests for their 1982 World tour is no acceptation. The rock icons came up with a 53-page list of demands they required from venues if they wanted them to perform.
This list had much more than music gear on it. The document including a meal of herring in sour cream, Schlitz Malt Liquor, and nonsensical items. The most legendary item on this list of demands was a bowl of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed. If the band found any brown M&Ms backstage, they would cancel the show at the full expense of the promoter.
Many people believed Van Halen’s request was just a rumor and made up by music venues for media attention. The request was proven true, however, with copies of the 53-page list surfing years later. When Van Halen was confronted with the laughable request, they defended themselves by saying it was a test for the stage crew. They wanted to make sure the crew read everything in order for the show to run smoothly. If they didn’t meet the M&Ms demand, there is a chance they skipped over important things like safety precautions and audio setup. Regardless of intent, Van Halen’s M&Ms request will go down in history as one of the most bizarre demands ever made by a rock band.
Lindsay Lohan’s Russian Talk Show Requests
Lindsay Lohan was one of the biggest rising stars back in the mid to late 2000s. She might have hit a few speed bumps later in her career but she was nearly untouchable during her prime. At the height of her career, Lohan was invited to be a guest on a popular Russian talk show. She agreed but only if all of her demands were met. It is normal for an A-list celebrity to ask for a few accommodations, but Lohan’s we so outrageous the Russian talk show just said screw it.
Lohan demanded she be paid no less than $860,000 for the short interview as well as a fully paid for penthouse suite in the lavash Ritz-Carlton hotel. The Hollywood starlet also gave the television network a list of people they should not interview or feature within 12 months of her interview. The list included her ex-boyfriend who was the son of a wealthy Russian businessman. All these things seem nonsensical but they all pale in comparison to her last demand.
The craziest thing Lindsey Lohan asked for was a private meeting with Russian President, Vladimir Putin. She also wanted him to be in the talk show’s audience during her scheduled interview. On top of all this, the actress asked for pictures with Putin to prove she had a meeting with him. Asking for a nice hotel room is one thing, but asking to have a private meeting with the president is completely ridiculous. The fact she wanted him to drop everything just to talk to the star of Mean Girls and Freaky Friday is comical.
Beyoncé’s Mrs. Carter Tour Requirements
Beyoncé is a pop music icon and wants to be treated as such on and off stage. She has had quite a few diva moments in her career, but on her Mrs. Carter tour, the diva complex went into full effect. The tour lasted about a year but it must have felt like a decade for Beyoncé’s staff. She wanted control of everything ranging from what the crew member’s wardrobe to what color the toilet seats should be.
At the beginning of this 2013 world tour, Beyoncé insisted that the entire crew wear 100% cotton clothing. Shirts, pants, sockets, and everything else should be cotton, no exception. The pop singer also demanded that every bathroom on the tour have brand new red toilet seats. This means every venue on the world tour had to install red fitted toilet seats if they wanted her to play.
These demands might seem crazy, but they were nothing compared to her backstage shenanigans. Beyoncé asked for alkaline water to be chilled at exactly 21 degrees. That might not sound that bad, but when you asked for all of them to be served with $900 titanium straw, it becomes ludicrous. It is also important to note that Beyoncé has a very large entourage who also had to drink out of the titanium straws. The straws alone costs thousands of dollars when everything is factored in. The singer also required hand-carved ice balls to chill her drinks as well as her throat after the show. Beyoncé made quite a few more demands on the tour, but they weren’t as crazy as the $900 titanium straws and hand made ice balls.
Jonathan Cheban’s Celebrity Big Brother Antics
You might be asking yourself, “Who the hell is Jonathan Cheban?” Honestly, it’s probably a good thing you don’t know of Cheban. His only claim to fame is being friends with Kim Kardashian. He has appeared on a few reality shows but other than that, he just has friends in high places. This didn’t stop him from acting completely outrageous giving A-list celebrity divas a run for their money.
Cheban’s outrageousness rubbed people the wrong way even before the first episode of the British reality show Celebrity Big Brother aired. The faux celeb asked to be driven to the set in a Rolls-Royce for the launch of the show. None of the bigger celebrities (not much bigger I might add) asked for special treatment but Cheban’s ego wouldn’t let him settle for anything less.
The ridiculousness continued to an even greater extent throughout the show. Cheban insisted that he order food from 5-star restaurants and have them delivered to him during the show. The only problem was the restaurants he wanted to order from were in the United States and not the U.K. where he was filming the show. Cheban didn’t care and demanded the food be flown over by a show producer in a private jet.
Cheban would throw a temper tantrum like a child if he didn’t get what he wanted. Fortunately, the show refused to meet some of his demands causing him to walk away from the show halfway through. Spoiled fake celebrities are the worst.
