A year full of flawless makeup and bold hair trends, 2020 set the record for some iconic statements. We are giving you the list on the biggest hairstyle trends of 2020!
Curtain bangs were a huge “banger” this year. What I love about this hairstyle trend is the natural flow of each layer in the hair that makes it look defined and smooth. I feel like it can work with just about any hair and any color. I, myself, am going to rush to my hairdresser to try this hairstyle for the fall season because curtain bangs are one of the best go to hairstyles for this chilly season.
This hairstyle trend went viral on TikTok, becoming a trend for the fall season. This 60’s inspired fringe centers itself on the cheekbones to openly frame the face. One of the best things about this hairstyle trend is that you can still put your hair in an updo, tuck it behind your ear or just pull it back without worrying about your hair falling out.
And yes, you can pull them off.
One of my favorite busy hairstyles is a basic bun or knot. I usually go for this when I am working or need to just get my hair out of my face. A bun or a knot can never go wrong and will always be among the many hairstyles people use; it is SO cute and you can style it in any way you want to whether that is putting all your hair up or just making a half bun. Perfect to do during a skin-care routine, school assignments, work day hair, and other days where you may be running late.
Styling your hair in a messy bun is super efficient and even better for a bad hair day that will still give you a chic finish. Who doesn’t love an easy hairstyle that still manages to look so effortlessly cute? I personally love the half bun because my inner curls really get to shine out with my frizzy hair being tied up and out of my face. With all that frizziness gone and still managing to look cute, I feel ready to tackle on the hustle for the day.
Okay, I know you will agree with me when I say that braids are definitely one of the most fun and creative hairstyles you can find. There are endless ways to braid your hair: French, Dutch, fishtail, boxer braids and so much more! What I love is that you can get simple or complex as you want and style out your bangs or baby hairs on the side. The versatile style of braids range from many different looks that all look flawless.
A nice bonus of putting your hair into one braid or 2 braids is how it can look after you take them out. You get these nice, defined curls or even waves that will give you the perfect no-heat-added look. If you do want to achieve this natural curled look, try putting your hair into 1 or 2 braids after showering. The wet hair adds to the definition of your curls and its volume.
Now if you do plan on using heat, say for a night out or if you just prefer it that way, another idea to curl your hair or flat iron it, then take a small top portion of your hair and braid it. Clip it back or finish it off with a hair tie. (See the second image below if you need a visualization)
Taking on a bolder aspect, I know tons of people that have chopped their hair spontaneously. It is like this daring, impulsive decision that even I feel at times when scrolling through my social media accounts. If you are debating on whether on not you should be chopping your hair, I am here as your friend to tell you to just go for it! I think that the chopped look brings in a youthful vibe that is also fun, fresh and flawless.
Chopped hairstyles are way easier to take care of since you obviously have less hair. When it comes to washing, drying, styling, and setting, having short hair makes your life a whole lot easier, and who doesn’t love the idea of that? Even letting loose and being able to leave your hair natural and give you so much freedom. The secret to these hairstyles: There is no “perfect” season of the year to impulsively chop your hair. Chopped hair can look good anytime and any day. Sometimes, we need a change in our lives and this is the best way to go about it!
My love for scarves and bandanas cannot be put into words. The vibrant colors mixed in with your hair whether you tied it as a headband, wrapped it around a bun or added it to your ponytail, provide a simplistic and trendy look. Using an accessory like a bandana or scarf has been a huge trend this year, all over social media and we are here for it.
This hairstyle trend was all over TikTok, just like the curtain bangs were. There are so many ways you can incorporate these accessories into your hair and I love that you can style it to your preferences. A great part about these accessories is that there is no particular season in which you can wear them. They are geared to be worn for any season!
You can mix things up by wearing more vibrant colors in the summer, with neutrals and nudes for the fall, and darker colors for the winter. Or you can just wear whatever color you want at any time, either way it will look amazing on you and you will definitely pull it off!
