When you’ve been in a relationship for a while, it’s easy to slip into a routine. Monotony can creep into date-nights, especially with a night in. After a while, watching Netflix and snacking just gets old. Here are a few different ways to spend a lazy night with you SO that will keep your relationship from settling into a routine.
A little friendly competition never hurt anybody, and in this case, you and your SO will probably have a lot of fun. There are so many board-game options to choose from but some of my favorites for date-night in are Scrabble, Uno and Rummikubs. Games like these are a great way to spend a lazy night with your SO or entertain a larger a group. You and your SO will have a great time connecting face-to-face rather than tuning into your favorite TV show.
Cultivating a relaxing at home spa day for you and your significant other is a thoughtful gesture for them, and self-care for you. This way to spend a lazy night with your SO is inexpensive and relaxing. Pick up a few face-masks, a bath-bomb, some bubbly, or whatever other self-care materials you can find and prefer. Having a nice bubble bath with your SO is a great way to spend intimate time together, and will relax both of you. This idea is great for when life gets a little hectic, spending a tranquil night with a loved one can be a perfect remedy for stressful days.
This activity is a way for you and your SO to come up with things you may want to do together. Consider travel destinations you both want to experience, musicians you want to see live, and even goals for your life together. The conversations that result from making a list of things you want to do together will be sincere and stimulating. Most of all, this is a lot fun. Additionally, you can look back at this list as reference or inspiration for more date ideas in the future. For example, if ‘Visit Italy’ pops on your list and you can’t afford an actual trip, maybe see a film set in Italy or go to an Italian restaurant. You can tell your date that you referenced the list you made together and they will appreciate the thought.
If you’re the type of person who never plays any sort of videogames, and you happen to be dating someone who is a videogame fanatic, I encourage you to give this a chance. Avoid games that require too much skill, and opt instead for a game that you can enjoy no matter your skill level. (Mario kart and smash bros come to mind) Choosing a game that both you and your partner will enjoy is important for this way to spend a lazy night with your SO. Playing games together will allow you to have a friendly competition, and your gamer SO will appreciate you trying to take interest in their interests.
All you need for this lazy night in with you SO is an old tablecloth laid somewhere in your backyard, and a meal of some kind. There are endless options for food to use for your picnic, depending on your mood and the effort you want to put in. Putting together a cheese-board is a romantic and tasty option, but takeout Chinese food can be just as lovely. At the end of the day, what matters most is spending an evening outdoors with your significant other. Bringing a speaker to play music from, or a bottle of wine can really help set the mood.
