The Best Views of New York And Where To Find Them

New York is home to beautiful skyscrapers and city lights. We broke down where to catch some of the best views of the Big Apple.

1. Le Bain

Le Bain is a penthouse lounge and rooftop bar on the top floor of The Standard, offering breathtaking views, sunsets, cuisine and cocktails. Le Bain is perfect for a Saturday night out but it also offers the same serene experience during the day time. It is more upscale and not a free option to catch those views but if you are looking for something that combines dining, drinks and the view then Le Bain is for you!

2. The Iconic Brooklyn Bridge

You did not fully experience NYC if you didn’t stop for pictures at the Brooklyn Bridge. Brooklyn Bridge links the boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan and is a favorite spot to catch the city views and the perfect sunset. The Brooklyn Bridge is a popular spot for New York’s finest aesthetics. Make your Pinterest board come to life by snapping candids and pictures at the bridge!

The best part: it is totally free, fun and combines the river and city views!

3. Central Park

Whether if you are taking a walk, reading a nice book in the shade, or having a small picnic, Central Park is perfect for relaxation and some beautiful views. It is quite the spot for nature lovers where you can escape the loud traffic noises. It is also great for some photo ops!

Located right between the Upper West and East Sides of Manhattan, you’ll feel like Blair Waldorf walking along the park. An 840-acre park, there is no spot that will ever feel boring or repetitive. Depending on your definition of leisurely it may take up to 2 hours to walk the entire thing!

4. The High Line

The High Line is a long green park constructed on the old Central Railroad track on the west side of Manhattan. It runs along Tenth Avenue from Gansevoort Street all the way to 34th Street in Chelsea and curves to Twelfth Avenue. It is geared toward the historic aspect of New York but perfect for catching views and taking photos! Walking on the High Line takes about 20-30 minutes if you are really trying to get a wholesome experience.

The High Line has amazing scenery where you can sit and have a picnic or some ice cream with friends or family. There are benches as well as grassy areas for your convenience. You’re connected to the street life but also distanced enough to get the whole view.

5. Governors Island

Governors Island is located south of Manhattan Island and serves as a recreational spot for walking, running or just enjoying the nice summer weather. The summer season brings many people towards Governors Island for views and relaxation. There are paths made out for bicycles so you can also enjoy a nice breeze.

To obtain a nice view from Governors Island, going to The Hills would be your best bet. The Hills portion allows you to hike to the top so you can access views of Lower Manhattan and our favorite, The Statue Of Liberty.

6. Times Square

I could not forget to include Times Square, New York’s finest gem and center of all things retail and entertainment. It is THE spot where you’ll really get a taste of the city with people selling things on the street, the falafel food trucks and high-end skyscrapers. It is a classic spot for pictures, shopping, food and views of the city. The bright lights confirm that this city never sleeps!

The crowds may be a hassle in Times Square because it is in the heart of the city but it is 100 percent worth it! Plus you have a great backdrop for pictures wherever you’re sitting (or standing).

7. Staten Island Ferry

Grey’s Anatomy fans will understand me when I talk about Derek Shepard’s love for ferry boats. You get the breeze, the ocean views and of course, the city awaiting you. Staten Island Ferry is home to all 3 of those elements and you’ll get a full 360 view of New York and the seas.

I personally love taking the ferry. It allows me to clear my mind and be able to enjoy what’s around me. However long the ride may be, its a great start to a day as well as a great end to the day.

8. Dumbo

The paved streets of modern Dumbo and converted industrial buildings in Brooklyn are the backdrop for local boutiques, exquisite restaurants and chic cafes. Dumbo is where you get that real NYC experience because of its antique buildings and the street vibe. You can catch some nice views here that are tucked away throughout the area.

I LOVE Dumbo. There hasn’t been a time where I didn’t enjoy this side of the city and always find new spots each time I come here. It is a photo HOTSPOT!

9. Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center is prime during the holiday season. The big, 20-foot high christmas tree that sits in the center attracts millions of New Yorkers and visitors each year. Located in Midtown Manhattan, this spot is one of my favorites because there is a lot to capture with the ones you love. A lot of activities take place at Rockefeller like ice skating, shopping, getting some hot chocolate, and most importantly, taking pictures with the beautiful tree surrounded by skyscrapers.

Other than Christmas time, Rockefeller Center is still a popular area in the summer season. Essentially, it is a large complex with many leisure activities for any person. It is a hub of remarkable art and culture. Don’t feel as if you can only come here during the holidays, it is just as enjoyable during the other seasons as well!

10. Battery Park

Lastly, Battery Park is another spot for nature lovers if you don’t want to go to Central Park. It is a 25-acre park with tons of greenery and a serene experience overall. Battery Park, situated at the southern tip of Manhattan with convenient access to the waterfront and Hudson River, is historically where New York’s evolution began.

Since Central Park is more popular for tourists and can get crowded, try going to Battery Park if you want to avoid the touristy vibe.
